Rob and Chris, your channel is so good these days I’ve actually stopped watching a lot of the other rebuild channels (mainly American) because your channel is so much more real and you generally repair the sort of cars that we all own and that makes it much more interesting as far as I’m concerned. Chris, I do minis , most parts are cheaper from dealer than eBay, Bonnet £334.20 Headlight trims £35.25 each Splash guard £66.67 Deformation top £42.78 Deformation bot £36.34 Crash bar £105.90 Bonnet actuators £124.30 You got a bargain there, shame I missed it 😂😂

Car came down our production line at plant oxford, I used to work on line 60 fluid fill/final finish.. chrome trims, interior mirrors. etc Them headlights are made in Spain with many different variations and you're correct not cheap. On the track we have a specialize jig to set the height. The bolts and spacers are a nightmare to fit.. Yours looks like 75/76 LED part numbers (Be sure to check) otherwise they definitely will not work. I'm looking forward to the build, Great little car 😀

I’m a driving instructor, thankfully this wasn’t my car, but I can confirm there’s some ADI’s running categorised cars and they can be insured without too many problems. The duals can be taken out easily and most installer’s will buy them as they’re fairly expensive. MINI & BMW duals are crazy expensive, I paid £600 to have a set of He-Man’s fitted to my BMW 1 Series. Another ADI posted the link to the video on an instructor Facebook group, so maybe the previous owner might get in touch.

Perhaps because it had been sitting around for so long the Insurance company wanted gone asap! It's really enjoyable watching you guys do a first inspection of a crash-damaged vehicle. After seeing so many of your videos, I'm pretty sure some of us think we have as much expertise as you two in determining how much profit is in each one. What a bargain and a relatively easy repair given both your skills. Like others I am amazed that the airbags did not trigger which has saved more than a thousand pounds on the rebuild costs.

I can only think it was stationary and someone's hit it but it's confusing because the crash bar looks like it's hit a pole and they don't normally move very quickly 😀😂 Maybe it was that trolley thing off the EuroNCAP test and it hit the front instead of the side whilst the learner was doing the theory test 😂😂

I know it's way off but to sell it as a 5 x door learner vehicle will be a big plus. The dual controls fitted is such a great advantage for a newly qualified driving instructor starting his own school.

Mini is my most favorite car especially this mini hatch 5 door I had a mini countryman 2011 model but got shut of it because it had lots of faults and problems sad thing is when speaking to people afterwards most don’t have good experiences with bmw mini but I would risk it to own one again not all can be bad and this could be a very good car for someone you will do well with this

Looks a good project. Bit surprised there wasn't a brown stain on the (learner) driver's seat. Interesting to see if you can sell it at a premium as a driving school car - might be better to strip the dual controls out and sell them on ebay separately? I guess you will need to budget for a new clutch and brake pads!

Even before you dig into this one, it appears that you have just bought your next holiday with this one. A great price, 4 wheels on the ground, all pointing the same way, the bonnet might need more than some T-cut and a polish, perhaps a wave of Chris's magic wand. After your initial inspection, I can see why you think this is a winner, still just hoping the engine is sound, with no hidden damage. I wonder how it was damaged without blowing the airbags, was it stationary when smashed? Well done, your lucky ship came in this time. We will all be looking forward to the next review and the full strip down.

Loved the video! Great purchase there guys. Could also save yourselves a few quid by getting a new plain bonnet rather than a union jack one maybe 🤷‍♂️. Probably best to take dual controls out. Its only a nominal fee. Driving instructors probably won't want it being a Cat S but would make a lovely car for someone. A practical 5 door with what Rob says "all the bells and whistles" 😁

Good thing the hood and front bumper cover a good majority of the front clip, definitely helps to save on damage since the fenders are so small and not touched. Since this was a learner car, is that why it has the target stickers on it, be cool if those could be remade, they look cool.

The bonnets are always damaged on these with front impact and I always buy new ones from the main dealers as the prices are good and far better than an aftermarket bonnet . Very easy cars to work on because of German engineering. I love them !!!

I've fixed a few of these - just be really specific on the part numbers when buying parts - classic mistake (usually by me) is buying the crash bar and receiving a 4 hole one when you need a 5 hole one (same part number according to some suppliers). Also the correct bonnet is hard to find so you did really well (if it's the right bonnet). Looking forward to seeing the process of fixing this one up! Some of the aluminium bits are £30-50 each and there's quite a few.

We did a garden clearance job and there was a 02 mini cooler s sat in the yard been sat there for 7 years.. lady said it died and she just sat it up we toed it away for and got it for £50 long story short added a new fuel pump gave it a service belts and all went straight through an mot in total came to £600 nice cheap low mileage car

Driving school worker here! Would be a good car for an independent instructor but insurance would be an issue - not all insurers will insure it again as a driving school car, if they do they may want an inspection on the car and the pedals from heman Personally take the pedals out and stick them on eBay, probably get £120-150 for them If you message me the reg/company I can ask on the instructor groups see if there’s any footage of the accident?

Those helpful tips on checking procedures on Car Vertical are all copy / paste on all vehicles. I would also like to see the specific common problems often found on that particular model due to a design fault.

I've had a few F-Series MINIs now, they're a lot better build than the older ones. And the advantage is now they're a proper BMW engine and platform, this engine is used in the i8. I've had one B38 and two B48s now, they're solid. The B48 Cooper S ones I've had drive like a RenaultSport Clio 172 and a first-gen 1 series had a baby.

Don’t think there will be a market to sell as a Lerner car. Most instructors lease their cars insurance, maintenance etc all included. There will be a market value in the He Man duel controls though as they are quite expensive. I used to be a He Man approved installer for duals and they will fit all Minis.
