The light staying on the S Class is a parking light. It says on if you turn the headlight switch all the way to the left. My grandma had a 94 400SE and the left that on all the time.

Randy, Airmatic suspension is a lot easier to deal with compared to the ABC system. You could convert it to conventional suspension if you wanted to keep it. I don’t think the 1,100 price is worth it though. Too much. I’d personally rather have the SL

Hey I have this gen S Class and I’ll say the front suspension may either have an lowering link sensor issue which is just pennies to replace, or the air tank (the side u checked behind the bumper on the drivers side) having a leak at the top of the line going to it, but the car seems pretty sound, i know im a few months late but I hope you did get it! Mine is about to hit 300,000km and its still running and sounding strong with lots of torque

RX8 looks good.. I had one and it's so much fun to drive.. little tip.. the 6 speed manual has the higher 231 bhp engine.. the lower 192 bhp is a 5 speed. 😉

I had a gas chevy truck that had hydro boost. The hydro boost also came on the chevy trucks since the late 80's early 90's, mine was a 94 3500, all original, with the 454 gas engine and only 60k on it. The hydro boost is better than the vacuum booster especially if you are towing and have a low rpm low vacuum motor.

The gmc 2500 mirror was doing the reversing mirror adjustment. My dads truck did that. Mirrors would point towards curbs.

I love these S classes. I got a 2004 S430 a couple months ago that I'm working on. Airmatic is much easier to work on compared to ABC in my opinion. I have already sorted out some of the Airmatic issues on mine. This one looks ok but those miles might not be worth it.

Buy the Mercedes or the RX8 to enjoy. Keep it for a while and fix up.

I was a Mercedes mechanic in a dealership in Chicago for over 15 years there is no parts for an S 500 that are cheap if I was you I would leave that car right where it is they are money pits

That shifter on the RX-8 is freaking awesome. Love the detail to show it has a rotary engine.

On the GMC......sometimes they show on the fuel gauge "Diesel Fuel Only" or check the fuel door on the outside. Hopefully that would help to determine if it was a Diesel before the next time you come across this again..

Hydro boost was used on all heavy duty application trucks. Even caprices in the 80’s has it as an option when equipped with the tow package. It’s a good thing because no matter what rpm the motor is at you will have power brakes.

Randy, FYI that 3 series noise is lifter tick, all N52 engines do it if engine is shut off while cold, will go away once its at operating temperature. Google N52 lifter tick, it does not cause engine issues, just sounds bad.

The M-B S sedan is a great prospect & you can learn more about the air suspension system. It should be no loss adventure with quick turn over.

The light is on in the S500 because where you left the headlight switch! They are parking lights and when you turn the switch counter clock wise to where you think it is off like most cars, it is the parking lights! There are right and left parking lights because some of these are sold in countries where you drive on the other side of the road!

I bought a 2002 S430 at Copart not long ago that had fire damage under the hood. I replaced the damaged harness and found the car had 286K on it. I never would have guessed it because the car runs and drives perfectly. I got mine for about $600. $1100 is a bit on the high side but it is a clean car. If you ever want to talk about W220s or anything Mercedes, let me know. I daily drive an 03 S430 and will be getting a STAR diagnostic system soon.

Red SL500 the module that caught fire controls the power roof. You replace the entire harness back there song with fixing the module and hydraulic line and you're Golden

The rotary Wankel is basically a 2stroke. It's supposed to smoke it's oil pump also injects some oil in the intake gas mixture.

The s-class has electronically controlled shock absorbers to control the stiffness. Beautiful car the v8 is great and can last forever, the light isn’t stuck on it’s the “party lights” for parking on the side of the road the light knob is just turned past off.

Hi , the button missing on the door is trunk release button, the other one is to make the suspension stiffer for sporty ride .

I work on these always and I own a couple,air Matic it could be the front shocks,Lines or compressor,but the rear of the car is up meaning it’s the front shocks that are leaking and the compressor is working fine,I bought the eBay shocks before and they worked but the mileage is too high

I have a 2001 as 500 but it’s basically the same they change the body style and 07 and I did the two front struts and it was a cake job only cost me about 300 bucks and it was an easy flip
