My father in law use to make copper countertops venthoods and sinks back in the day. He made his own book of samples using everything from vinegar to lemon juice and various exposure times. He made a one counter top where he soaked leaves in water and threw them onto the copper sheet, laying them out flat and left it outside for a couple weeks, keeping the leaves wet. When he removed them they left perfect "patina" copies of themselves on the copper. Very delicate but noticable.

@TheCrafsMan
@TheCrafsMan 5 жыл бұрын
Hello there! :D There's definitely some benefit to using the false rusting. For one, you can control it and not worry about it going too far. Also, the integrity of the object is in-tact. I did this for some metal roofing one time, and felt good about it not having any thin rusted out parts like might happen with real rusted roofing. :)

+100 on the q-tips. I use paper towels first to get most of the water out of my ears, then finish off really easy-like with the q-tips. No problems. Keep SteadyCraftin!

Thank you for that! And it has become a funny thing. Back when the "Sketch to Sculpt" video came out (which was more popular than I expected), I got to noticing after that, I'd get a thumb down on every video, almost as soon as it was uploaded. LOL! I got me a subscriber steady waiting to thumbs it down. :)

CrafsMan i just wanted to say how much i love the evolution and progress of your channel, i've been following it since quite a while and everytime a new video comes up it puts a big smile on my face! Have you considered getting into some voice stuff like VoiceOverPete? Cause you got an amazing and very relaxing voice, just saying :)

Franco, I appreciate your encouragement. I've actually never heard of VoiceOverPete until right now. I'll probably stick to just doing my little MP3s for folks on Etsy, but if things slow down, I'll keep that in mind. :D

crafsman, you can use mustard for patina too, we used to treat our opinels with it, give it a nice aged look. Mustard also good with just sausages.

;) Thanks, Jenn! You're steady kind, as always. I feel like I should have put a THIN coat up on that, but even still, it gave it a fairly dark patina. I'm going to try some other oils sometime. (Walnut?)

I just found your page! You are so much more entertaining than a lot of the soccer moms doing the same type of videos!!! No hating I'm a "soccer mom", but I'm subscribing and watching your videos first!! I also appreciate the explanations you give, instead of just showing how to do these different crafts!!! I think you're great!!

Hey, fellow Crafsman Friends....how about we start a little Holiday Season "Let's Send the Crafsman and Crafsmama a card" ! I'll leave it up to the Crafsman to post his P.O. Box...but I think he shares it pretty freely. Then, our beloved Crafsman can do a little video about all the places he got a card from? How's that for an idea?

Hello, CrafsMan. I really like the blue patina that you got by suspending the vinegar and salt wash over the ammonia. The colors came out so saturated and vivid. They were all nice, but that was my best of show. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for the CrafsMan show. 💖💡🖌🛠✂️

Glad you liked it! I couldn't get over the vibrance of that blue. Was expecting some neat color, but that just took me by surprise. And you can do even better with it by getting more creative with the salt. I just kinda sprinkled it nonchalant. :)
