I feel so at home! Ok, you have a mansion and I have a single room apartment :) and your mansion is full of fascinating stuff. Now I don't feel so bad having 6 different projects all in various stages of completion. Do either of these sound familiar: "I know what's going on, leave me alone!" & then "now where did I put my....". Thanks for sharing! Cheers.

There is a blissful disorder(if any) in this creative paradise of yours that you have put together. I definitely was able to pick a few ideas that will apply to my garage. I enjoyed watching your presentation. Thanks.

On the subject of the lathe, I was given one of those for free several years ago, only difference being that mine is white. It was still in its original, unopened, but badly deteriorated plywood shipping crate, and due to its storage in a barn for at least 20 years, was a sort of mouse condo! Total disassembly and rebuilding produced a very capable machine, thanks mainly to Grizzly Industrial, whose G4000 machine (sold as a 9x19!) is the exact same machine and they sell every single part on it! The Achilles heel of these things is that cruddy two bolt tool post mounting plate, which is not rigid in any sense of the word! I made a 4 bolt one for my machine, but Little Machine Shop actually sells a 4 bolt mount designed specifically for these 9x20/19 lathes. The four bolt made a major difference in my machine, and It’s honestly handled every job thrown at it! Your channel is new to me, so I’ve got some catching up to do! Thanks!

Awesome layout - the central island is great, but the monitor on it being visible from anywhere is the real killer feature!

I could say “your shop puts my shop to shame! “ But everyone’s work shop are different, from the Carpenter’s wood working shop or a welders steel work bench or a Garage mechanics car hoist, each Maker / DIY designer has something unique about them it’s their shop! I truly loved the tour, it gave me a insight into the mind of a Champion Battlebot Maker.

Truth. My shop is awful if you want to build large wood furniture. It's not equipped for welding, etc, etc. It works for what I do!

Terrific video and shop - what a terrific place to create! Do you have any tips/thoughts/pros/cons/etc about having a shared space housing woodworking, machining, and electronics? I’m interested in a lot of the same areas and trying to figure out how to plan my own similar space.

I love your central workbench concept and I’m so going to blatantly copy that. Are your workbenches from Uline? They look a lot like their packaging workbenches.

I mean, it's level, if you slant your head ;-) But yeah, it's not really level, but reasonably flat, in spots.

What material do you use for your work tops on your center island? Any pros and cons? I have sections in Formica that’s great for glueing, cleaning, etc and then some sections with hardboard that screws to a more solid wood top. The idea being that I can easily replace the hardboard as it wears. I am looking at few other options for the next section now. Thoughts appreciated.

I use just solid core door slabs from a hardware store. Pros: they're cheap, readily available, solid wood. Cons: Thin veneer (mistakes can go through the veneer), not the MOST durable, good with oils/solvents only after sealing and waxing, could be stronger. I'm not sure I would do anything different, I like the idea of formica or even butcher block, but I also kinda like the "who cares" nature of my door slabs. They have gotten heavy use for the last 5 years and still seem fine. I might re-wax them, maybe.

It would be beautiful and well designed. But it could only fight against other Apple-branded bots, and you'd need to send it in for repairs.
