Danke! Very grateful for your info - especially when you explain the “heaving”. I was just out dividing and replanting some Heuchera & this was exactly what I was wondering! Sonnige Grüße aus Frankfurt am Main (Germany Zone 8) :)Geraldine

Heuchera are one of my favourite plants. Like you, I used to only be interested in flowers, but then needed ground cover for my roses and as roses need pruning every year, the bed was looking a bit bare and bland in the winter. Heuchera mean the bed looks beautiful all year round, not just when the spring and summer flowers are blooming. I wouldn't be without my flower, but I also now love colourful foliage. Also, the flowers on Heuchera, while tiny and not the main thing anyone would really grow them for, seem to be loved by bees. If the bees in my garden are happy, so am I. They're beautiful plants.

I’ve seen this 1-2 times before, but forgot! So here I am today, searching up Heuchera & no one was hitting on my questions…except your video, ofc! Mine was being pushed up…so now I know it was the winter freeze. It has bloomed, so I was thinking I just never planted it low enough & pot too small. Thanks Devin! Mr. Plant Pro QVC guy!

in the last 3 years I have fallen in love with Huechera. I want them all. One thing I learned is that you can just pinch of a section from the edge with a little of the root, and plop it straight in the ground. Most of them have rooted for me that way.

Hello and thanks for the information, Devin. I live in zone 8a and I have 5 Heucheras in pots. They are doing very well. They have the long stems of flowers that I’m not sure if I should cut. I don’t want to interfere with the plant’s performance. Surprisingly, I only had one come back that I planted in the ground and I’ve decided to let it do its thing and keep a watch on it. I do love these plants and the different colors available. Thanks for sharing.🌺

👍 Maybe next year you can plan a drip tape on a timer so your plants can get water because a drought can happen anywhere. Not even grass can survive it and would be a lot to ask of a plant, I believe, to survive on no water. 🙂

Zone 6, Eastern Washington. Wow, I've been doing it wrong!! I thought the heaving was winter freeze damage so I have been covering mine with ponderosa pine needles like my roses(minus the compost and fert). I considered the small retention of foilage and color as a sign of success but I've had enough failures that could of easily been fixed with planting deeper and dividing!🤦 Thanks for the information, adds a whole couple steps to my arsenal thank you for saving my plants lol!!!
