Hey @adavance5492 I appreciate your taking the time to write. Indeed, KZfaq has “terminated” the James Kalm Report channel. After eighteen years as a content producer, this came out of the blue with no warnings, no strikes in the last 90 days, and no opportunities to rectify their concerns. KZfaq denied my appeal, claiming that the content violates their “sex and nudity policy”. I plan to campaign on social media after I build new accounts. (a couple of months ago my Facebook and Instagram accounts were hacked.) In the meantime, my understanding is that subscribers can help influence KZfaq to change its mind by voicing their complaints on social media (ex. tweeting @youtubeteam), or clicking your KZfaq personal icon in the upper right, scrolling down the menu to feedback and leaving a comment. If you are so inclined, I would be grateful. Otherwise, please stay tuned as I’m determined to get the James Kalm Report reinstated. With thanks and best wishes for the New Year, LOREN

Hey @tonsfocus, thanks for your concerns, and yeah, the James Kalm Report channel has been “terminated”. So that’s something like 750 programs that document the New York art scene for the past eighteen years. I was given no warnings, or strikes against the channel, and there was no chance to perhaps remove what they see as the egregious content. Strangely, I’ve received warnings and had some programs put behind age barriers, but that was several years ago(?) Also, KZfaq is supposed to have an EDSA (Education, Documentation, Scientific, Artistic) dispensation, which allows for nudity (within limitations) if the content is put in an appropriate context? Presenting works of art in a gallery or museum, with the name of the artist in the title of every vid, and obvious dialog that lets viewers know this is “artistic documentation” should be enough, not to mention that the James Kalm channel has been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Art in America, Art Forum, the Brooklyn Rail, been included in several full length documentaries, and too many art blogs to mention. I've been spending hours grinding my way through the "community standards" and various "help sites" here, and one of the phrases that they keep flaunting is "creating a safe place for everyone". Seems that's everyone, except artists. If KZfaq has any claims of being ethical, this should get the channel reinstated, but… (it’s a fluke they haven’t taken down the Rough Cuts channel too…yet.) Oh and HAPPY HOLIDAYS...JK

In my humble opinion, this is very much in keeping with the cultural Maoism that has swept the U.S. and is attempting to gate-keep the internet and freedom in general. Also, that old chestnut about "absolute power." Still, this breaks my heart. Of course someone like you gets broadsided. I would urge you to not give up, however. Spread the word far and wide. You have the distinct advantage of living in the heart of one of the cultural and tech capitals of the U.S. Talk to all the galleries who you've really gifted with your gallery documentarian efforts. Talk to all the artists who've featured in your pieces. *Get a petition going* to reverse this capricious and authoritarian decision. It's all digital, so I assure you, one flick on a control panel and the whole thing would be returned: comments, ratings, and all. Ask someone who knows someone who works at that evil Deathstar called Alphabet to plead your case once more. If it's 750 videos, thats got to be at least 1,000 different artists? Take it to the city gov. too - some local Representative. Tell them how you've been a window into one of the most profitable aspects of NYC (fine arts supposedly generates more $ for a city than sports, music, and theater combined). Also - I pray you have most if not all the videos backed up. In which case, the least you could do is jump onto Rumble and start slowly "backing it up" there. Rumble has a clear mission to be the alternative to the "safe community communism" of YT - e.g., to not just censor willy-nilly. There are other video platforms besides that - Odysee? Twitter (X)? Locals? Anyway, I'm sorry you've been sniped in this way. Not surprised in the slightest, but this is hitting like a real kick in the gut, honestly. You have been a true lighthouse for all of us flung far and wide, wanting to see the art scene back in New York. And your demeanor, gentleness, and good humor have never been even close to being mimicked nor replaced. There are others, and they are all so hollow and shallow compared to your videos, Loren. Your channel was such an invaluable document covering 18 years (!) of gallery visits, artist chats, studio visits, street musicians… Some of these people and places are no longer here. A document of New York art history… deleted? What the heck?! KZfaq shouldn’t be allowed to do that. There must be some recourse. Yeah @@TonyWarner8rabbit I don't think it was the Dana vid, but something even weirder. I think they've gone back nearly a decade and flagged a Chuck Close vid from 2014? Even so that should fall with in their community standard guidelines...
