This set was a core set which also reprinted scapeshift. The synergy at mythic is wild.

That Baloth is really excited to play fetch. I would suggest that you don't do the fake out where you pretend to throw the ball but don't. That would make the Baloth upset. And an upset Baloth is no fun for anyone involved.

From a pure play-ability standpoint I would take Lich's Caress. Because of who I am as a person.

Green was one of the best colors in this set just based off Vine Mare. It's unlikely to get passed, but I'd take Baloth just in hopes of getting Vine Mare pack 2 or 3.

Vigilant Baloth was a great beater in this format

"Target creature draws a card" would surely work off the Floral Spuzzem precedent, where the creature gets to choose what it wants to do with its card.

I'd go for the green vigilant 5/5 but may the black removal is the better choice.

The Mythic slot didn't effect Limited, so this set didn't have a lot of cards at that rarity that were meant to work with those themes. However, this was the same set that finally reprinted Scapeshift also at Mythic. Also, this was around when Standard sets would have some groups of cards or set themes that synergized with Commander precons or supplemental sets that came out close to it, mostly to encourage players to get both products. Like before this there was the Tribal precons like Mardu Edgar Markov that were followed by Ixalan's vampires. 2018 had Scapeshift and Crucible in Standard and one of the 2018 Commander precons was the Lord Windgrace Lands deck.

I like the crucible of worlds reprint because it's a valuable card that could do with reprinting and is extremely safe to have in standard during almost any standard format

I'd personally take Vigilant Baloth if thinking about winning games, but it would be a close choice most certainly

My first draft ever was Core Set 2019. I drafted red-white because I'd read it was an easy archetype for first-time drafters, but I also picked and ran Crucible of Worlds because I had no idea what it was for, but it was a mythic rare so it had to be good, right?Good memories.

With those outer coverings, I always just tear off the top portion like it's one of those pull-away strips of plastic on food packaging.

I'd take Baloth and pray that I can wheel that Elf Druid.

Vigilant Baloth just fuuucking kills people, but theres little shortage of big dorks that do that, whereas removal also wins games, but gets snapped up pretty quick. Also lich's caress helps you stabilize later in the game, would 100% go for it

Ah that's a banger of a rare. There were evolving woods or terramorphic expanse in the set iirc. I'd probably still take crucible, given the amount of incidental discard.

I distinctly remember being made fun of at the Core 19 Prerelease because I had never seen the word Macabre before, so I cast "ma-caw-bree" waltz

I'm absolutely taking Crucible because I can probably flip it for at least as many packs as I'd win taking something else, but in a world where that card slot was a junk rare instead, I'm taking the Baloth. I never drafted this set, so I don't know the life gain deck, and in a format where all I know is that the power level and complexity is lower than average, I can't go wrong taking a big beatstick.

I did originally say Baloth but the more I thought about it the more I realized it should be removal.

If a Creature was forced to Draw a Card It would probably die, since its library was empty. Unset Blue Kill spell. Kind of like an Inverse on how Door to Nothing was worded in playtest "Destroy Target Player"

I'd normally first pick the the Baloth b/c I prioritize killing Opp, but I remember M19 having so little removal that Caress is high priority.

Vigilant Behemoth is absolutely the pick. There's nothing else that would pull someone into green in the pack, so you should be able to plant a decent flag while taking a solid card for any green deck

Baloth can't survive the removal, which can kill a Baloth, so I'd go with the removal to use on someone's Baloth that I didn't pick.

I drafted a lot of this set, mostly in UB which had a very nice uncommon payoff. Would happily first pick a Lich's Caress and be pleased to wheel the Waltz because Salvager of Secrets was in the set and I like infinite value.

I would get the Crucible of Worlds. Mostly because I have needed a copy since Fifth Dawn. Bear in mind that Fifth Dawn was nearly 20 years ago...

The way I play limited, I’m far more inclined to take the baloth as it can actually win you the game, as opposed to Caress which is good but doesn’t do anything to advance your own board

If this is a first pick I would take Skyscanner because it would work with any direction I pick from there.

Llanowar Elves is a Druid as well. So the extra 1 generic mana is just granting you +2 toughness. Not worth it. And I'd take the Baloth. Also, keep in mind the Core Sets were released the summer before the actual year they denote, so Core 2019 came out in 2018.

I miss core sets. I know they're not flashy or exciting per se, but gosh darn it if it ain't some good, clean Magic the Gathering. Plus you get sweet reprints like that Crucible of Worlds! (Ignoring that, I take the LIch's Caress 100% because I love me some removal).

I think for the packs, it's always good to assume your either playing a phantom draft (so the value doesn't at all) or your playing for a high enough prize that the prices of individual cards don't matter that much. That said, I would probably pick the Baloth. It is just so goddamn annoying, especially if vines wheels.

Honestly skyscanner is defensible. Nothing in this pack is a bomb in limited, so keeping yourself open is potentially the right play.

I take crucible of world I see one discard card that must be more right so I'm gonna try and play discard tribal I suspect this to be a terrible decision that will result in a bad deck but I'd do it anyway

Honestly, take Crucible of Worlds and hope Sift wheels. Gameplan is just to "cheat" Sift by discarding a land then playing it with Crucible.

Five-mana, sorcery-speed removal feels bad, but it can still get there and it answers the baloth... but I still might go with the baloth. Got to kill your opponent somehow.
