This feels like such an omission from Unity. Especially considering the Windows version supports a manual scale override, the Mac version scales perfectly with the desktop, and meanwhile poor Linux is in the corner neglected.
This will get you in the "too big" range. In order for this to be fully supported, we need to bug the Unity developers to honor the "GDK_DPI_SCALE" environment variable. It would be simple. Unity's UI is implemented with a highly modified variant of ImGui. Provided they read this environment variable and start with the environment's base font size, this should be EASY.
Instead, here's a work-around to use integer scaling to get Unity for Linux more readable.
GDK_SCALE=1 /path/to/UnityVersion/Editor/Unity
You can even export it as a .desktop file or a script if you want to.
