Visit to Cork Ireland in 2007. This was the last year gill netting was allowed for salmon fishing in the sea and estuary's. This was done in order to increase salmon runs into the rivers. However this did not happen. I made a report on this visit and criticized this management, said it would not improve the runs. There was no evidence that reducing the net fishery would improve the salmon runs.
