I made a bat very similar to this but it was before we discovered blitzball. We used an orange nerf bat and put 3 tennis balls in it and got about the same results.

I got the black Louisville slugger plastic bat from walmart and with some polypropylene beads that melt into like a putty then harden into a tough plastic i made a nice handle to prevent the thin shaft from snapping then drilled a small hole in the front. And shoved it with paper been using the same bat frequently for 2 years without needing a new one

We play with juggs light flight balls, they carry about the same distance as tennis balls. I’ve hit one of those over 200ft in the air with one arm, don’t know exact distance but field is 200 even. Maybe try one of the light flight balls and compare with tennis ball
