What a fabulous bracelet, wow! I love the high polish after oxidizing, very lovely. It brings out the red gold in copper + the contrasting texture with the oxidizing. This was so interesting to watch. You are a skilled craftsman, and it was a joy to see how you made this. I had a similar silver bracelet which I lost in a burglary, so now i can make it again myself. Thank you for your time and generosity in sharing your work! ❣❣❣

I enjoy your straight forward, clear & concise, yet thorough instructions. This tutorial also taught me new information about cleaning and polishing when you want to oxidize your design. I was never sure about what to do first. I tend to have a difficult time getting through tutorials but you had me deeply engaged from start to finish here. Best of all, you've rekindled my desire to create. Thank you, thank you!

Nice! A little tip for you.. If you just hold the ends of the coil and pull them apart they will separate equally.. You don't have to separate each bend and try to make them even.
@FlatwearableArtisanJewelry
@FlatwearableArtisanJewelry 2 жыл бұрын
It does spread the coils more evenly but you still have to get 2, or more of them to line up perfectly in order to join them. My bracelets come out 100% better using the jig.

Maybe it'd help if you'd support the end of your mandrel somehow. Having both ends supported will make the mandrel stable thus helping you with more even coil and easier winding process.

You can just stick the end of the wire in between the jaws of the chuck of your wire coiler. It wont come out. Then you can just pull the coil off the end of the mandrel. I do it with my drill. The only time it wont work is if the mandrel is so small the chuck jaws are too close together to fit the wire in.

I have a massive spool of 20 ga. cooper wire that's been around for years so I just did a 6strand braid, flattened it and made a frame for a stained glass piece I've been working on. I'm going to try this next. Thanks for showing how to do this it's beautiful. IT took three feet of length so it's going to be a trick but I'm game. What is the pickling solution , and what does it do? Subbed and definitely checking out your channel for more ideas.

You're using a drill chuck for your mandrel. To save yourself time/fighting/cutting your wire, about an inch down the start of your wire bend a 90deg. Then stick the tip of the wire between two of the teeth of the chuck. Almost all of the wire sizes you use should be able to fit.

I've tried that many times and was very disappointed. It makes the finish look cheap and wears off fast. Then the finish is uneven and all kinds of messed up. Ultimately the copper will still oxidize, staining your clothes, skin and everything else. I love copper but it just can't be worn for jewelry that is exposed to any kind of elements or wear and tear 😔
@FlatwearableArtisanJewelry
@FlatwearableArtisanJewelry Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you aren't preparing the metal properly or using the wrong type of sealer, or not applying the sealer as instructed. I've had no issues as you have described. People need to realize that you cannot wear jewelry while washing dishes, bathing, swimming, exercising, etc. Copper is a great metal for jewelry and an inexpensive way to learn.
