i set up a couple nice bird feeders on the other side of my yard close to the woods, the squirrels never bother with my garden when they have and easier food source, air rifle works too i guess, but you cant always be there watching your plants, they really got you good...

'click click, BOOM!' ...well, that or the pepper spray! Hope you get something sorted...I know how frustrating it is to lose plants/crops to pests... I've just lost 50% of my french beans to something or other... and seeing as I only had ten plants to start with tat's a pretty big kick in the teeth! lol Keep on keeping on!

Have you looked into getting a Contech CRO101 Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinkler? Perhaps get a few and arm them from the corn into the woods. Then those turrets will gun down anything that moves. I have one and I use it to fight off the cats trying to eat my chickens.

This is perfect to spray in the late evening on melons or any kind of veggie or fruit to keep the critters away. It does wear off so maybe spray one or two times a week unless it rains heavy.

Nice harvest btw, maybe leave the corn on for another week b4 pickn... They look like super market corn, a common mix of white and yellow

I have been hunting and eating them, but it is impossible to make a dent in their numbers. This year I bought enough "PoultryNet" to surround the garden. I have tried all sorts of other fences with no luck. This year i'm hoping the electric net will do the trick.

Its like a bunch of very very hot peppers and as you blend them up just add some water and keep blending then strain it into a bottle .Im gonna spray mine on the cob and the plant cause they were chewing my plant before they got cobs.

Take 8 cloves of garlic and 8 habanero peppers and put in blender.Cover with water and chop them up. Pour this into a container and hide it outside somewhere and let it steep all night and the next day. Then in the late evening strain it out through some cheesecloth into a gallon sprayer. Add a teaspoon of real soap like Ivory dish soap and it is ready to use.

Oh, just a thought, corn fed squirrels ought to be mighty tasty later on when the season comes in.

Sorry for your loss man. Hope the pepper spray works for you, if not maybe you could have squirrel stew. LOL Best of luck with the rest of your crop.

If you have live traps you can catch them and relocate them.

At least they did leave you some ears. They say the hot pepper spray does work, check out mhpgardener on KZfaq, he uses Scorpion and Fatali peppers to make his. I had a two acre corn patch on the backside of the place, between the squirrels, racoons and deer they ate it up. I did manage to at least get enough to put in the freezer. Good luck with your later corn!

The squirrels would steal your Doritos if they could. We have a American bobtail cat that catches and eats them. She eats chipmunks too. I make a garlic pepper spray that would knock a bear down in its tracks and it works for bug control as well.
