Cornbread Recipe:
1 stick of butter melted
2 cups cornmeal mix
1&1/2 cups of buttermilk
1 egg
1 spoons of mayo (optional)
bake at 425 for 35 to 40 minutes

My dad alway ate cornbread and buttermilk , he would put it in a glass and eat it with a spoon. The glass he always used had roadrunner on it. He's gone to be with the Lord now but I still have the sweet memories of him. 💞

Oh Allison I will say a prayer for you, my husband is battling too. His hasn't smoked since mid August and I have been quit for over 10 years. It gets easier. I promise!

Amen, sister!! I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2007, spent 21 days in the hospital, only by the Grace of God and people who prayed for me did I walk out of that hospital!! So, I am thankful for every day that I wake up! It is a new day!! Thank you Leslie!❤❤❤

The dark crust is my favorite part of cornbread. I'll scrape the inside out and save the crust for last. I also have to put up the cornbread after I eat or I'll keep going back and picking the crust off to eat if I don't. My mom taught me to put the cast iron skillet on the stove and melt the grease and then sprinkle flour in the hot grease to get that crust. I'll have to try your way. I'd also like to ask for your prayers. I'm on disability and my disability insurance finally started covering dental. I went to the dentist for the first time in about 30 years on Jan 29th. I got the official word yesterday that insurance approved a total mouth extraction, minus my 2 upper front teeth that are crowns, and then in 3-6 months after my mouth completely heals I'll get dentures. I've wanted this for years but didn't think I'd ever be able to get it. I go Feb. 13th for the dental surgery. I'm nervous, but mostly excited. I would like to ask that you pray that everything goes well. Thank you in advance. I really appreciate y'all.

I am 64 years old and I live very close to buttermilk and cornbread with onions in it. That sounds strange but I like it. I’m going to try your cornbread. Pray for my step kids mom please she’s having heart problems. Thank you love you guys!

Now I use bacon grease to first wet the iron skillet then add sprinkle of corn meal. Instead of butter I use two tablespoons of bacon grease along with three tablespoons of lard. I also pre heat skillet before pouring in cornbread mix.

Amen for being thankful for the unknown. My hubby had a tractor trailer rollover accident in 2009 that left him with multiple health problems and he's now on oxygen 24-7 due to Covid damaging his lungs. We are blessed he lived through his accident and sepsis episode now, living through the Covid aftermath.

@MrsAlmaTrumble, I'm sending prayers and blessings to u and ur husband. I had long haul Covid in 2021 for 15 months. Lost 50 pounds which I did need to loose some of it. Tested positive for Covid this morning. Hope it doesn't last long this time. Sure don't need to loose anymore weight.

Cup portions ,put them in a snack type bag and then put them all in a freezer bag and freeze them.Whenever you need some buttermilk you just get a bag or more out of the freezer.❤

I aways dread tax season. I use to add all my receipts up at the first of the year like that. Now I finish the month out with everything added for each month and then categorize it in the folders. First of the year just add each month up

That is completely overwhelming. I'd probably get a spread sheet going of each folder and reconcile all the receipts on a monthly basis. Makes year end less stressful.

My grandson's name is Judah also. My son is a Pastor and picked the name of Judah for his son 13 years ago. Your Judah is the first time I have heard anyone named that other than my grandson. I don't put sugar in my cornbread either. I was raised in GA and I don't know anyone in my family that put sugar in it. I am so picky about my cornbread people know which of my cast iron skillets is my cornbread skillet and if they know better than to use it for anything other than cornbread.

We always had fried cornbread when I was growing up.....love it. My grandma always would break up any leftover cornbread in a big ol' glass and add buttermilk....not meeee....but she did....lol. I have been watching since the Christmas videos and enjoy them. When I make my own buttermilk, I warm the milk up in the microwave until warm, not hot. Add the vinegar after and let it sit for a minute, and it is much thicker. It makes a difference when I make pancakes, at least. I love cornbread in a cast iron skillet!

When I was little my grandmother would make her cornbread by putting the oil in the frying pan and heating it up. I'm 61 and to this day I still do that. When my grandmother would fix her born read and buttermilk, I'd have it with milk. I love the smell of buttermilk but have never like the taste of it. When u said let me get the "can chili" I thought I'd have to send u a recipe...lol...I thought u were gonna open a store bought can of chili...lol. This video brought back such great memories of my grandmother, I thank u for that. She passed in 1985 and I miss her dearly.

I spent many days, most days lol of January on our business taxes. I got them turned into the accountant February 1. Oh my goodness ugh! Then I had 3 questions to answer. I feel your pain 😂 BUT God is still God and He is so faithful to help even when we are doing taxes! ❤ I SO feel your challenges!

Leslie, I make my cornbread the same way! The only difference is I heat my case iron pan on the stove with butter. When it starts to sizzle I pour the cornbread in it, then in the oven. ❤️🙏

When I was a small child my dad got a job in Iowa so from Arkansas to Iowa we went. He ordered Sweet Milk at a restaurant, they were confused. They brought him a glass of milk and a bowl of sugar!😂😂😂

My Grandpa always had milk toast. I never could figure out why you would toast bread just to turn it into a soggy end product! Maybe if we were from the south he would have used cornbread instead. 😊 Seeing your enjoyment of the cornbread makes me tempted to try to make it again, but with your recipe. I have made it a few times through the years but never liked it. Even on corn dogs or anything like that it has always been so dry. Maybe using the White Lily cornmeal mix, real buttermilk (I never have it on hand but could get it for this) and the mayo might make the difference. Thanks for the recipe!
