Maybe he doesn't want 'em. Maybe he wants to be a character actor, who pops in for a few days, does his stuff, and heads down the road. That's where the career is. Fame is fleeting. Though he did do a Fletch a while back. Not a great movie, but he was a great Fletch.

Love this genre of surreal, overly bureaucratic office job employee finding out secrets about the corporation they work for. Stanley Parable, Control, and Severance all have this aesthetic and I can't get enough of it.

I worked at an Am-Law 100 law firm in Dallas, and a couple of the other paralegals and I found a room like this with a basketball Pop-A-Shot arcade game in there. The room was abandoned, and was kind of in a nook where people wouldn't naturally walk past it. Every single day for a year, from 2:45pm-3:00pm we would meet down there for a Pop-A-Shot tournament. This film feels exactly like that.

I really connected with your story. Way back in college, my university forgot to budget for the landscaping on a new residence hall. So, our residents director came with up a plan to "make up the difference" with a student crew (versus expensive pros) for the regularly scheduled Summer dorm paint/refresh - I was selected as a 'foreman'. It was hard and hot work as, no students in the halls, then no high aircon bills either. By the end of the second week, we had organically instituted a "Water Break Bowling Tournament" consisting of masking paper rolls as the pins and densely packed used tape 'bowling balls'. Our long hallway "lanes" were twice the length of traditional alley with natural bumpers (floor molding) and gutters (door entries). One time, a cleaning lady magically appeared out of a room and didn't make it quite to the end stairwell before a bowl hit her ankle - she never complained - just limped the rest of the way without looking back. 😂 The next building had a 4-story glass breezeway where one day, while waiting for everyone to get back from lunch, one crew member turned over a few empty 5 gallon plastic buckets (bongos) where we had the most amazing pre-STOMP exhibition for all the janitors and resident assistants. One of the best jobs I ever had and didn't pay anything really.

This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee #427. Employee #427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in Room 427 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Orders came to him through a monitor on his desk telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is what Employee #427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others may have considered it soul rending, Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job. And Stanley was happy.

Stanley was molested by 6 adult men in the break room, including two managing directors and the CEO. Stanleys whimsical little smile would forever disappear as he returned sobbing to room 427. it'd be too much.. tho it would've been essentially the story of Marvel's Wandavision. Where disillusion and other forces led her to lose her memory and live in a simulated 1960's television show style world only to eventually learn it was all an illusion. so it wouldve been interesting if they created the cinematic concept years before marvel did but that sort of far-fetched concept is much better suited to the Marvel world rather than AMC.
