The Guest Artist Series features world-class visiting artists at work in the Amphitheater Hot Shop. These special, extended demonstrations provide a fascinating peek at the techniques, artistry, and improvisation that comprise contemporary glassmaking. Our own Hot Glass Demo Team assists and narrates for each artist, answering audience questions in real time. Learn more at www.cmog.org/programs/guest-a....
After receiving his postgraduate diploma from the Canberra School of Art in 1992, Ben Edols traveled across and worked extensively in the United States. He has been working with Kathy Elliott since 1993 when they had the first exhibition of their collaborative work at de Vera in San Francisco. They now live and work in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. In early 2001, they completed work on their glassblowing and cold working studio. Their work has been exhibited in Australia, Japan, the United States, Germany, England, and Italy. www.cmog.org/bio/ben-edols

I love watching the guests come and do what they love to do. They all are awesome and I think that CMOG should have more videos on KZfaq at least two or three days a week like this video here. I can’t get enough of CMOG!

After watching 1 h and 14.39 min. of almost meditative glasswork, 1:14:40 nearly gave me a heart attack! Anyway, great job guys! This channel deserves more that 99K likes! Keep it up! Today, i participated in my first glass workshop, because i was so fascinated by the videos you are posting. It's just such a beautiful craftsmanship which more people should appreciate. It has that kind of tradition that you can't find very often anymore. By the way...this channel deserves more that 99K likes! Keep it up! Greets from Germany!

The gold leaf does not turn the glass in contact red because you need gold salts because gold does not Oxidise like other metals. To make Gold Salts - Gold is dissolved in acid and the liquid is evaporated to leave the salts behind, This is added to the batch and it is melted - the glass will strike given an Oxygen rich atmosphere , when you have to remove the Glass from the furnace before it goes. If you over work Gold ruby the colour can disappear if you are not careful. The Red colour here looks more like a Selenium Red the way it is working. :-))

Have they ever had Rollin Karg? He is from my local area and is one of the very few artists in this country who makes his own clear glass.

Hi Chris, the camera is behind the furnace, protected by a window of fused silica, which melts at a much higher temperature than the glass our gaffers use. Learn more about it here: blog.cmog.org/2016/12/12/the-view-from-inside-the-furnace/. Thanks for watching!
