My paternal great grandfather worked in these mines around Cornwall. He eventually emigrated to the upper peninsula of Michigan to work in the copper mines around Houghton/Hancock. Many people did the same and brought the pasty along with them. It became a staple of the diets of many copper miners and upper peninsula inhabitants. The Pasty still flourishes there. Given our interconnected world, I can now order pasties from a kitchen in Calumet Michigan (pasty.com) and they'll be here in 2 days. Love live the might Pasty!

Robert Congdon .....A Michigander here! The Pastys there are amazing! My uncle was the Dean up at Houghton Tech years ago. My great grandfather came from Cornwall and went there, then on to mining in Nevadaville Colorado. Too cool! A USAF Veteran 🇺🇸

Family is from Cornwall but came to US in 1960s…Fun fact of history is the American town they moved to had a prior history of tin mines that were run by the miners of Cornwall.

I had an ancestor from Cornwall early 1800s.Died at age 35 after giving birth to 10 children.
