I would have loved if there was a scene featuring Jon Lindsay's wife witnessing his arrest, and seeing her devastated, especially after all the things she said to Deirdre. That really was a missed opportunity.

Hopefully, she gets hers at her "husband's" court case. No spoilers please if that doesn't happen. I'm not re-watching. I missed all episodes from the 1990s so am seeing them fresh.But I'll be really disappointed if we don't get to see that man tried and convicted.

Who the fcuk would leave Zoe tattersall in charge of a till full of money?? Ffs 🤦‍♂️
@eatmywords
@eatmywords 2 жыл бұрын
and who would you suspect if the till was short? maud, who's been working there for a few years? or the drug dependent ignorant child who couldn't care about anyone but herself? but yeah, the stupidity is strong in ashley, no less because of his need to replace 'ts' with 'ks'. he should shack up with deirdre. through their combined idiocy, the would eventually harmonise into a perfect state of mental lethargy, whereupon there would come a time when they will evaporate into another dimension where stupidity is considered the highest form of intelligence.

i started watching Corrie in 1997 as a kid, it is a joy watching all these Corrie episodes back -- and there are so much of the details that went over my head which are seeming so much vivid watching it all back now as an adult! At the time I didnt truly appreciate how neglectful Zoe was to little Shannon and how much Ashley let her take advantage of him! All these years later little Shannon passing is still heatbreaking...Ashley was warned so many times by everyone that Zoe was using him, and she wasn't coping with Shannon but because he cared he overlooked all the warning signs. He tried to be firm with Zoe trying to get her to act more responsibly but sadly it was all too late x

I totally see Alma's point of view. I actually really liked Deirdre but most women would have dumped Lindsay the minute they found out a) he'd lied about being a working pilot and b) continued to lie about choosing to work as a tie salesman instead of all the other non-flying jobs that would be offered to airline pilots retired on medical grounds. Deirdre is definitely "guilty" of gross stupidity if nothing else.

That Miss Veetch is an absolute beetch, isn't she? Poor Deirdre, but her own attitude and behaviour was a complete disaster in the circumstances. A lesson in How To Make Yourself Look Like a Lily-Livered Target in Three Easy Steps: cry a lot, snap at everybody and say the word "innocent" fifty times a day. She'd obviously never seen The Shawshank Redemption: How To Deal With Wrongful Imprisonment With Dignity.

@carasmith 549 I may seem old-fashioned, but prison warders are not really employed to be friends with the inmates. As far as I can see Miss Veetch was only really telling Deirdre a fact. If she is going to be in prison for some time she will have to get used to the food. Still Miss Veetch is calling her Deidre and not Barlow. That is something!

I remember many years ago i decided to do some work with the womens prison service & the Open University non academic courses which were free of charge & designed to combat bad educational experiences. I was working as a Psychologist With mental health services & this idea to involve women with bad experiences during school & Their reluctance to take GCE exams etc. Anyway, as the Open University told me that some prisons took advantage of working through their educational packs & thus the person gaining a certificate Went a long way in gaining self confidence & persuit of further education when leaving prison. It ended with me leading some groups of women prisoners in the education packs I expected hardened criminals & resentment among these women ( this was a very long time ago & i hadnt had much experience in this area) I was gobsmacked by the amazing interest & intelligence in these women! Many were in Prison because they found themselves trying to cope alone ( their men folk abandoning them) with children & turning to crime to try & feed & clothe their kids! & for me it was a case of There for the grace of God..etc These women were just like us Strong & determined to do their time & get their kids back I enjoyed being with them & watched with pride as they worked their way through many of the packs that the Open University had provided. Once they got their completion certificates, they carried on with more educational courses I was so pleased when a few of my ladies went on to do GCSE's & completed them with flying colours! I kept in touch with a couple of the women who once released went on to take more educational exams which increased their chances in better jobs which they did! Its so easy to condem those with a criminal past until you meet people in prison, you would find those who were just unfortunate to get caught & hadnt done anyone any harm. All they wanted was to give their families a better standard of living. Deirdre in this instance was unfortunate, being convicted when she was innocent but her attitude of holier than thou was wrong. Sometimes we have to make the best of a bad job & try to get along with others. Being aloof & being better than Others only makes a rod for your own back. I also found prison officers & guards really helpful & they got along very well with the inmates Ok there are some who are vinegary & sour but they are few. Thanks EHS 🇬🇧👧

F. was as vindictive as they come and a rotten bully. Joan Ferguson was an older version of Tracey Barlow. Very often deliberately saying thing to try and provoke inmates and officers alike. IN Episode 309 Joan Ferguson provoked Joyce Barry into hItting her, and Joyce Barry is usually as tame as Emily Bishop or Ken Barlow!

Ashley not wanting Zoe to except Judy's help when she reached out for help makes him partially at fault in my book.
