Totally different show! The little moments in life that would make you smile, laugh, or cry have been replaced with bin crazed killers and prison stints. It's lost it's spark, and is unrecognizable to the dribble we are offered in today's era.

Bill Tarmey had four months off work from Coronation Street in 1987 when he had heart surgery. His performance is realistic and an all time highlight of the show. From an extra in The Rovers to a character whose sense of comedy and drama was masterful. Last year we were in stitches when he created Lusty Jack who was wenchin’ and quenchin’. I always feel a sense of dread bordering on terror when Terry resurfaces.

Hardly it wasn't really her fault. Her parents kept treating her like that little girl they blamed. So she was stuck there in her head. It happens quite more often than you think. That's why Stella on Eastenders was portrayed similarly. And Gabriella on Waterloo Road

2:21:31 - Jack and Vera, nearly had me in tears. Such a lovely touching scene. Corrie has had several iconic couples: Stan and Hilda, Len and Rita, Ken and Deirdre, Alf and Audrey, Bet and Alec, Mavis and Derek, Jim and Liz, but I think Jack and Vera top the lot.

@@zanducktv2398 My favourite Corrie couple were always Vera and Jack - and nobody could've played them but Liz and Bill. They were exactly the type of people you'd want to have as your grandparents.

@@gordontaylor5373 They were great, weren’t they, and much missed. Beneath Vera’s foghorn voice she had a heart of gold. I remember that touching scene after Jack passed away when Rita was looking at the photo of him with Jack junior and said tearfully did you ever see a happier man in all your days 🥰 I agree with Cara’s original comment, but would have the Ogdens and Duckworths in equal first place. All the couples are brilliant in their own way though, expertly created and made so believable by the acting.

Loving this month. Had to laugh with Audrey and Fred parks and cemetery's. In Current time a grave could have been dug in the dead of night to place poor ole Sydney in. Great to see Blanche back. They must have a laugh filming. Thanks Eve

Me too. And as for the comparison between Maud and Blanche - Maude was funny and blunt and frequently kind to all. Blanche was humourless, spiteful, manipulative and she belittled Deirdre at every opportunity. And she was kind to no one.

Nah.. Blanche is an awful nasty old sour witch... Maud is lovely and caring. Outspoken yes but very caring. Blanche didn't have a caring bone in her body.

I know the pub is a place to get various characters together for scenes but it looks like the street is full of alcoholics. Are they ever anywhere else than the pub? Lunch and evenings in the pub. No wonder half of them claim to be broke. Must be a great life. Also, Kevin and his circle should all be signed in somewhere. One scene talking softly and understanding to each other, the next flying off the handle shouting into each others faces, the next back to talking softly.

2:43:38 - Discussion between Spider and Leanne, in which Spider states he is 27-years-old. But in early January 1998, soon after his arrival, he had his 22nd birthday, as Toyah sent him an enormous romantic card, which (as I remember) she had skillfully appropriated without any financial exchange! So poor old Spider aged five years in eighteen months. Must be that vegan diet or sitting for days on end in lots of damp tunnels, saving the world.

That's so true. I live in Sydney, Australia, and I have arthritis in my hip. No matter how bad the pain is, they'll tell you to take Panadol which we all know don't work. I self-medicate with red wine instead.

I like Spider but that wispy mustache and shadow of a beard do not serve him well! He went from cute and scruffy to odd and skeevy. Maybe that was the intention since they decided to suddenly age him to 27 and have Toyah start wearing barrettes and Hello Kitty t-shirts! 😅

Ha ha! Watching in 2022 on my laptop while playing cooking games on my cheap but sleek "smart" phone, it's interesting seeing the old-fashioned flip/brick phones. And I'm an oldie but it's hard to believe that Curly sneered at the idea of supermarkets doing home deliveries as recently as 1999. And then I remember that was 23 years ago. Arghhh!

Mike once has a decent side - he could be kind to his workers and he seriously went the extra mile to get Deirdre out of jail. But cheating on sweet Alma with that hard-faced cow Linda was definitely an all-time low even for Baldwin.
