He just building an illusion that he is a "woodsman" and preying on ignorant mentally ill people who want to believe in conspiracy theories. He is showered and well rested. No camp site. People's perception of "freedom" vary greatly depending on who you ask. And if by "comfort," you mean security, then I can totally understand why people would prioritise that. Sense of security is a basic human need, and this virus is threatening people's lives.

Yes! Wrap it in a double layer of crumpled aluminum foil if you must take it with you . If you can afford $25 a month buy a basic flip phone & secure it with foil as well.

KZfaq is a great place to start to learn. First build a bug out bag for everyone in your family. Talk with your family and have a conversation if bugging out or bugging in would be better for your situation and where you live. A little tip: when you start prepping DO NOT keep all your supplies in one place! Learn about how to put your things in the ground. There are cheap ways to keep it protected from the elements. Sorry, I have talked way too much! Check KZfaq on prepping for beginners. Living off grid for beginners.

I really like the channel Survival Theory. He a simple man with a bug out bag and he goes camping in a random area as he videos it. Very simple concepts, usually somewhat short videos and always breaks it down easy so anyone can do it. He teaches you what goes in a bag, shows you his mistakes and is very encouraging. His videos are diverse also. And peaceful. You will learn and not need to spend much money. Check him out everyone. Start simple but start. Even $10 a week is something. I'm scared of this year honestly. But I'm also mostly ready and have been for 2 years. And I have a team. A strong team.

When I reached the part of the video about the second wave being about civil unrest I decided to check the date of this video versus the day I listened to this video: May 9 versus June 11 It's civil unrest alright here in the US. It's quiet, but not over. People including myself can feel the pressure. Thank you for your advice.

This is absolutely true! NeoCons always talk about people taking responsibility but where the rubber meets the road they are just that... talk. Taking control and responsibility begins with the most basic of needs. Food! Yet, few of these suburban chipmunks will soil their hands and just dive underground when it comes to rolling up sleeves, getting dirty, and getting a garden put in; raising livestock; putting back and preserving the bounty; and getting the job done. I've been located in the far suburbs of NYC, commonly called a bedroom community of NYC, and I've learn over the past 40 years to do for me and mine. Gardening, cultivating, tilling, raising small-stock and butchering are just some of the skills I've taken it upon myself to learn. In addition, I've learned to get and use alternate fuels so as not to be dependent on foreign oil. All this in addition to commuting daily to NYC for most of that time. Yeah, its hard work, its a challenge, and yeah, it requires self discipline and that is the key difference between doers and wannabes... self discipline. So clearly, though time is late as there is a learning curve, now is the time to plant a garden and tend it as though your life depended on it because it may yet be so! Remember, no one thought that there would be food shortages in America, even as recent as two months ago. So take a lesson from the recent past! So get off your duffs get a how-to book or a mentor and plant, till, cultivate the soil and reap the well earned harvest of the fruits of you labor.

thanks to covid, my husband and I and our pets decided to leave the city, move to the country, and work remotely. we just finished moving all our things. for a lesser cost we now have huge space, land to cultivate, free space to roam and we are much happier. we wanted to do it for years and never dared, now we have. We will never go back to city life and that golden cage.

Dennis Prager addressed this issue nicely in one of his recent fireside chats, I think the one with the title "When it's safe, means never." One of the things that he said was that if everyone just follows whatever the laws say, there is no morality. I think his talk makes an excellent addition to Bjorn's perspective, which is spot on is itself, in my view.

I have some knowledge and understandings in many areas, and during this Pandemic things never added up to me, and with lots of time on my hands I began to collect info enough so to the point where I came to believe the same. I've lived in the city my whole life. I always told my self I'd never raise kids in the city so my wife and I planned to get out when we found out she was pregnant early last year. We moved to the country right before she was born in November, right before all this got crazy. We're not off grid yet but we have a lot of property, and a stones throw from a river and waterfalls downstream. We have no close neighbors and we're surrounded by wilderness. I'm never going back to city living. If it wasn't for my daughter, we probably would still be stuck there during all this.

Good on you ! When you think about it, challenging as it may be, survival in the countryside will be more about comfort, than survival. If you planned sufficiently, the basics are not hard to arrange. Luxuries, not so much. The less you "need", the more survivable. I wish I hadn't got stuck in a city myself.

While I agree with getting out of big cities, there is something to consider. Don´t pretende to go solo if SHTF! Remember that a wolf hunts with it´s pack. In other words, build a community, freedom is nothing unless you can protect it! You will do alot better with a small community to protect what you have, you´re freedom to live. It´s not science, it´s a fact.

Even in the face of an existential crisis? Is it not also liberty to choose to behave in the manner that will benefit the most people? Aren’t the needs of the few out weighed be the needs of the manny? What ever happened to civic duty or community mindedness? Does the majority still rule? Or would you have us trash democracy because a law or custom might inconvenience an individual who doesn’t agree with it? Play your thought experiment out to its natural conclusion. Tough to claim liberty on its own merits holds more value than the preservation of the society that defined the modern concept.

I was listening to you and several videos and realized the wisdom you show is like that of my Grandfather and was wondering how could someone like you , younger then I, how is that possible. Then I realized the actual words you used hit me like a rock while being alone on the top of a mountain. I have been using my emotions to make decisions and hearing your words that I knew were true made me angry, not at you by at my self for being where I know better. I am going to be more of the "love what happens" than being all emotional about it.
