I'm recovering from a foot surgery (lapidus bunionectomy) and need to build leg strength and work low impact cardio to get back in shape. I've never really used a bike at all, but my legs overall are pretty strong with no knee issues. Is it alright to start with the seat as low as it is comfortable as opposed to higher up if a higher seat hurts my groin?

Great video. I have an old stationary bike a family member gave me, it's old but sturdy. I decided to use it to lose this 35lbs that's been hanging around for 10 years and it's been great. I'm up to an hour cycling 6 days/week. But I noticed my knees were not happy, so I started googling and youtubing and this was the perfect video to address my issue. I never thought to adjust it from my family members setting, didn't even know it was suppose to be adjusted. The bike was on setting 2 and I did my cycling come to find out my hip level brought it to setting 13, who'd a thought. So I only been cycling for two weeks now and thank goodness I found the problem now before 4 months went by. My knees woulda been jacked up. Please don't tell me to rest my knees. But tell me the truth, should I rest my knees from that 2 weeks of being on the wrong setting? Or can I just continue with my workout strategy. They're not in serious pain just a little pain that made me see the need to see what I was possibly doing wrong.

rested two days and knee pain gone, adjusted the settings, cycle resumed and no knee pain. Thanks so much for this video!!!!! I realized the my seat is too big also so I switched over to a smaller seat and now my butt is more comfortable too. 35lbs its time to say goodbye.
