Gillian Murphy dances from the heart that's why she's so different of another ballerinas...

Oh god, what is everyone's problem, criticizing gillian like that. she is an outstanding dancer, have seen her a few times at the MET… In my opinion, her fouettes are actually one of the best. Why don't u critics go up on stage and dance the way she does, instead of making comments that don't even make sense. And she is not American btw, she was born in London, so get your facts right first

At present time the most magical i see as Ali(variation and coda) is kimin Kim and in Vienna dancing Conrad.He is suspended in the air and his technical skills are amazing but Matvienko and Hallberg are stunning in Combat des anges of Proust in a choreography of R. Petit. The best Medora i keep in my mind is Victoria Tereshkina 🎶🩰especially her fouettés.

I never thought I would ever say this but on the evidence of this clip I reckon Matvienko even excels Angel Corella in the role.

I want to see you get up on that stage and do what she did. Post a video on youtube and then you can criticize, no problem, until then you have NO idea how difficult any one of those steps are to perform, especially fouettes which look amazing on her. But as I said, live she is amazing and when you think about it, what the video looks like doesnt matter as much because the people actually saw you enjoyed it in its fullness not as a video....

Your screen name is hilarious! Can I ask where you filmed this? I was noticing some of the choreography has been slightly reblocked as if to compensate for a smaller stage and wondered if that might be the source of some of the criticisms. Hallberg looked fabulous, and I liked Matvienko particularly in the coda with those 540s, though there are places he and Murphy don't look entirely comfortable with either the space or maybe with the partnering. I don't imagine they dance together very often. You can't exactly fault Murphy when she gets off 9 turns from one preparation and looks like she doesn't actually need a partner to propel her (yes, I'm a compulsive turn-counter). Thanks for posting. I'm still getting used to seeing this as a showpiece as a pdt, and it was great to see such a nice pairing (trio-ing?) of east and west!

I am honest the best i saw as Ali for soft landing, work on the arms and hands and sky high leaps is kimin kim and the pair with Tereshkina is amazing and i saw this pas de trois with fantastic dancers for a long time and in Lausanne competition but the most stunning is Kimin Kim.I like very much Matvienko especially in Combat des anges from the choreographer Roland Petit and Hallberg as Mario Spada stunning but here it i not my favorite

This may not have been one of her best performances, but she certainly dances beautifully. everyone has their bad days, so there's no need to criticize her so much!

Being born in England does not make her not being an American. With American parents who work overseas, regardless where she was born, she is still born an American. And most of all, her training are all American training since the age of 5. I got my facts straight, you don't, sorry.

If you mean Matvienko, I just asked if maybe the stage was small, because he does reblock those opening pas de chat en tourants (with frills).

Gillian is an amazing dancer, I've seen her dance in Romeo and Juliet in June. Videos may make her look awkward to some, but live she. is. amazing! Also, she is not American born at all, she was born in England, if you're going to criticize at least get your facts straight.

Alla grazia e levità della ballerina come dentro un afflato d'aria appena effuso si contrappone la forza muscolare del balletto maschile con grandi spinte elaniste in una vorticosita ' gradevole e pressoché d'acchito.Tutto molto bello e gradevole.Molto bravi Tutti. Bighin Giulio Renzo

There's something freaking wrong with the tempo... they need a better conductor for sure
@minissa20093 жыл бұрын
Is it possible this was recorded? I noticed it largely in Medora's solo. On her manege, Murphy is way off the music, although the turns themselves are perfect. Otherwise, I tend to blame the conductor.

No matter where she was born, her training and style are American, and she is a highly accomplished ballerina, her technique is steely and rock solid, perhaps a little too solid. Her added turns and fouettés ‘en couronne’ take on a slightly speciality act look. She can match any ballerina step for step, but not the arms,and I don’t feel the soul. Matvienko is wonderful, and without high elevation, is still highly effective.Halberg is excellent but I do not feel this is his role. Great performance, but would be better with an all Russian trio,only my opinion. an all Russian trio

She is a great ballerina, just not my favorite
@MizQue11 жыл бұрын
Hallberg and Matvienko so out-class Gillian, it's like they don't belong on the same stage. Her dancing is several levels below theirs. Hard to watch her after watching the Russian ballerinas.
@rasberry51312 жыл бұрын
eeeh i never really like her... why is she fantastic? her turns? that's about it. she dances too indulgently
@bWeidung12 жыл бұрын
ABT promotes Gillian because she's American born ballerina. Transition between steps are too cloudy to be a professional at her level. Fouettes are extremely awkward with legs aren't straight, moves her center too far off. And of course she isn't centered in all the turns, always tilts off. Her closing fifth is never tight. Pique arabesque is like a passing through, as well as all posing positions because they are all passing through. My skin crawls everytime I watch her dance.
@marinawilliams74777 жыл бұрын
bWeidung x i totally agree! how come she can be even called prima? horrible.was curious to see her and was just shocked they let it on the stage.
@elyssac96156 жыл бұрын
Her music is lightning fast, the fact that she can finish those turns are incredible. Funny how you don't comment on the men's dancing as well because I'd say they are subpar compared to hers if you really had that eye for detail. Clearly asking for attention for watching a video of her when you say it makes your skin crawl.
@minissa20093 жыл бұрын
Probably because I read the comments before I watched, I did notice that, though the triple fouettes ware lovely, on the singles, at least at that part of the sequence, her foot never closes to a clean passe/retire position---which drives me just a little crazy.
