@@lancsvermincontrol you are welcome ! I have been a shooting man all my days - now 75 ! Used to collect Old English/British Rook rifles. Once owned a John Dickson of Edinburgh 300. and TE.Mortimer (Edinburgh) 300 - both built on on Pryse and Cashmore actions but the T.E.M. was parker rifled and rechambered to take a modern .22 Hornet centre fire. The tasties piece I ever saw in my life was back in the 70's at Tatton Park game fair in Knutsford. I had driven down from Scotland for two days and I stumbled upon a Side by Side 20b. ejector by another Edinburgh maker - Dan'l Fraser. It was cased and was beautiful - the real bonus ball was that it had a spare set of rifle barrels chambered in .22Hornet ! It was £1200.00. quid and it would have been as well being 12 million as I didnt have that kind of money back then. I have tried several times in the last ten years to locate it but failed !! cheers for your vids mate.

We live in the country side (farm) and every night we have sat out and watched a beautiful white barn owl hunting over our fields with one of its owlets. It has been fantastic to watch. Last week no less than ten crows in what we can only describe as a pack attacked them. The screaming from the owl and owlet sounded horrendous and like nothing we have heard before. We found the body of the barn owl badly decomposed over the weekend in our back field. The owlet has since also disappeared after it was also mobbed by crows a few days later. That also made one heck of a racket and made my wife very upset. There are now after many years no barn owls in our fields just lots and lots of crows. We have never seen as many crows as we have this year. We didn’t know crows did this. My wife tells me there are approximately 9000 breeding pairs of barn owls in the country compared to 1 million pairs of carrion crows alone. Hence since trying to find out how we can legally control them.

Im sorry to hear that. I really do hope some owls make a comeback to your farm. This is just one of many reasons why we have to control corvids. Corvids are ruthless killers.

Have you tried putting up nesting boxes for the owls? And maybe try and catch some rats and drop them new the nest boxes.

Great video mate, you've certainly put the effort into editing and production from your earlier videos. I really should take the effort to get to grips with my Crown, it's .22 flavor fac, I brought it to make it quicker to wallop the rats and squirrels over. Well done bud, keep posting for us all 👍.

Off question but, if you were a leftie shooter, would the magazine on the Impact get the the way of a good cheek-weld? I haven't been able to get a definitive answer as of yet, so I appreciate any assistance.

I gave it a try left handed and found it didn't really bother me, but my scope is quite far forward so if the scope is a little further back you can feel the magazine a little bit. If that effects anything I'm not so sure as I haven't physically tried shooting left handed.

Hey up buddy on your other gun the hawke 3x12x44 s/f how do you find it with the pard 007...i have just got the pard that will go on that scope any pointers or tips.....ie what mag do you tend to use and how high do you go up when using the pard as it says to get best results use low mag

Always best to use low mag but you can zoom in still and it will still work reasonably well. I do find the scope works pretty well with the PARD. You will find that your more accurate on a low mag.

Thanks Hank, I use a Hawke LRF400 which I have had for several years. Will probably need replacing soon as I've bashed it around a lot over those years. It's probably 3 models old now as there are newer versions of this one.

I would try around the 950-980fps range, but I have had success at 930fps. It’s all trial and error.

Great shooting👌🏼 Are you shooting the Impact with 33 of 35 grain(in the prescription you mentioned 35 and in the movie you wrote 33grain)?

Could you run slugs through your dreamline 25 cal too or won't it work?

You can try light slugs but the Dreamline isn't a "power" gun and may struggle shooting at high speeds. Always worth a try though if you want to experiment.

I’m not keen on killing stuff and will avoid at all costs having had a bad experience as a kid whilst shooting, but Corvid’s and grey squirrels do need some controlling as they can do a great deal of damage, if its got to be done I would want someone like this gentleman doing the job as he doesn’t mess around from what I have seen, I am even thinking of getting a air rifle to help thin out the grey squirrels at my back as they have decimated the small bird population, or I could try and get a polecat as that would be effective too 🤔

@@andrewthomas2406 apart from when they’re stealing song bird eggs, stripping trees of bark and the presence of grey squirrels causes a threat to red squirrels as they spread para poxvirus which is fatal to the reds. But don’t worry, we’ll let other wildlife suffer because uneducated folk think “grey squirrels are so cute”. A conservation balance.

Hey Thnx for the vid, great shooting as usual. Since awhile i am also shooting Zan 26.5 grains in my .25 i noticed i have no immediate kills. A bit like yours they fly off and expire a bit later. I use to shoot jsb kings 25.39 grains and at lower power 50 joules the zans i shoot with 60 joules. I have clean passthrough with both but the jsb is instant kills. Do you have a clue why? Is it because jsb is rounded more? The logic would say zans would give easier immediate kills but in reality its not. i shoot betwoon 20 and 60 meters with the majority 40 meters. thnx

Thanks Siegfried. Something I have learnt myself is when I am shooting high power with slugs and pellets, if my target is relatively close such as 30 yards or under, the pellet is travelling that fast it pencils straight through and the animal (usually a bird) flies away and then passes out somewhere 20 seconds later. If however the target is 40 yards plus it seems to knock them down. My theory is as the projectile is slowing down it’s causing more catastrophic trauma when passing through the animal as the projectile is now travelling slower and pretty much tearing up more inside giving the pellet/slug more time to expand and cause more damage, usually dropping them instantly or within a couple of feet.

Is the pellet gun a Europe thing because it’s hard to own a riffle. Or just a hobbyist. It looks like an expensive setup. Most ranchers around here just use 22’s or 556 ars depending on their age.

Hi, generally air rifles can be more expensive to buy but pellets are much cheaper than ammunition. Swings and roundabouts really. I have rimfires and centrefires but for the type of pest control I do air rifles are the best option. Discreet and safer. It is a little more difficult in general to get firearms in Europe, but here in the UK as long as you have a valid reason, criminal record is clear (or not too excessive) and your doctor seems you as sound mind you can pretty much get whatever you want within reason. Suppressors are easier to get here that the US. I have suppressors for all my rifles.

If a parrot was on the general licence and causing issues to livestock such as the crows and jackdaws then yes I would. A parrot isn’t a problem so I don’t shoot them.

They kill and eat songbird eggs, spread disease in and amongst livestock causing them to become ill and miscarry, certain crow species are known to attack lambs by pecking their eyes out and/or removing their tongue. We shoot them over crops also to protect the vegetables etc that the public buy from their supermarkets.
