@@psychologicalFudge there are many ways you could look at it. In real life, sneaking is dangerous too. If they see you sneaking, you will have an initial disadvantage but to make a run for it, closing the door is the best option as it will buy you an extra second.

If u close the door then they will definitely see u and it takes less than a second to open a door, assuming it's even fully closed before they notice. By sneaking away or even just sprinting away u will have more distance between u and the person before they notice.

I think I've replayed the final scene talking to Cara and escaping about 7 times. It's SO WELL DONE! It's just so intense and nerve-wracking, it's wonderful. Idk maybe it's just me but I am obsessed with it.
