I have been thinking about closing the underside of my bench. I have not decided on what design I should use. This is very timely as I can see that my thinking wasn’t providing the results I wanted. Your design is very close to what I was looking for. I am going to use your basic design and change it a little bit to match my needs. Thank you for providing the inspiration to create the design I need. I was struggling with the idea and you provided the guidance for me. Thanks again.

Are you planning on making a video showing how to make a miter shooting board? Or is it too similar too a square shooting board that it’s not worth it?

Beautiful, I especially enjoyed the way you explain things you like and dislike about the final product. I especially liked the magnets on the pass though drawers. While I don’t have a Cosman work bench I am going to use the ideas you gave us on mine. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas

As I've grown older (>70) and due to a lower back injury I have found the need to sit at my workbench for a lot of the time. That needs knee room. How I now curse the day I enclosed the underside.... 😢

Only one question regarding the upgrade, what is the thickness of the drawer base. Dont know if i missed it in the video but will be watching it again to take some measurements. Thanks for the video i am sure this will help so many people out.

I bought the workbench plans & video a few weeks back & was thinking about building storage into the underside, as I've very limited space (typical UK, 20'x8'6" garage). The idea of a modular fitting never occurred to me but now I've seen this, I'll work out a modified version to suit. I want to store my planes in there, so will likely build a lower drawer 2/3 the long side to hold my #7, two #5½ & a #4½ then instead of the door, add a deep drawer, or maybe shallow drawers for chisels, screwdrivers etc. Thanks for putting this up, as it's inspired me to go sit at the drafting board & start planning things out.

Interesting that you can cut dovetails into baltic birch, as I had always been told to avoid plywood. Does that only work by hand, or does it also work with a router?

Which of your bench you sell has the strongestand most durable top? MDF or baltic birch plywood? Thanks!

thats a loaded question. They are essentially equal with different characteristics. The MDF is slightly flatter than the BB. The BB has a tougher core and is better if you use holdfasts

This is a great upgrade. I’m just starting my bench build. I might make some modifications to this to house a shooting board and bench plane. What are the dimensions of your Wood river 5 1/2 jack plane? I want to be able to store that when I get one from you . Thanks.😊

I like the build and the drawers. Not so much for the doors. Put vertical dividers instead of doors. The divided middle section would be used to store a shooting board, bench hook, and other bench related accessories. All in all, it is still an awesome build.
