fr, i love the original star wars films and clone wars but the fanbase is genuinely one of the worst fanbases of any franchise

I’ve been a die hard Star Wars fan my entire life. And I honestly still am. It becomes 100% more enjoyable if you avoid the online discussion and make up your own mind on things. I still LOVE discussing Star Wars. But I have to be careful to avoid how much hate there is in the fanbase. The sequels REALLY broke the community. You really have to sort through online communities to find people who just love talking about it. I have been disappointed with Disney’s use of the franchise recently. I thought Mando Season 3 was a huge step down to the point of being utterly forgettable and pointless. Kenobi and Boba Fett were also baffling wastes of potential. But on the other side, Andor is AMAZING, Ahsoka was pretty great imo, and Bad Batch has mostly been awesome! So I still adore Star Wars. It’s just that the content that’s being released is WAY more inconsistent because of how much of it there is.

I'm the person who will so as far as to say, "The Fanbase is ruining Star Wars." And people wonder why they stopped making movies and focus on TV Shows.

A lot of people say Han at the end of Solo and Han at the start of Star Wars don’t feel like the same guy, but I think it’s fine. I think it’s interesting to have a negative character change. In Solo Han decides the only person he can trust in the Galaxy is Chewie. And after shooting Beckett for his betrayal, there’s still 8 years until the Battle of Yavin. Luke proved that some character development is allowed to happen offscreen, and it makes sense to me that Han shooting Beckett first leads to him being the tough, cynical loner smuggler type in ANH.

If they wanted to make him a hermit, it should’ve been something more like Ben became out of control with anger fueled by the dark side or something like that, not “well I know I’m the same man that faced off against one of the most brutally evil people in the galaxy who also killed my mentor, because of an unwavering hope that there was still light in him, but I had a slight vision of my NEPHEW who I’m training and learned he wasn’t perfect, so I almost killed him in my sleep”. They should’ve had luke fail at training him because he didn’t know how to train him. Ik they make him kind of OP but he also doesn’t really have training. With yoda he just learned a little about how the force worked (although at the time that was really all the force even was, relatively simple, which works for the story they told). But luke wasn’t in the strongest position to train people, especially an angry young man torn by his lineage and the dark side tempting him. Like Ben makes the same decision luke made to rush off and try to handle things himself, but it leads to him turning to the dark side instead. Offscreen character development can still be written in character, and that’s where they failed with Luke

It’s implied that Rose and Paige joined the Resistance together, so when Paige dies, we could’ve had an interesting arc of Rose trying to find another reason to fight for the Resistance, or have her be the mole, which would justify Holdo’s paranoia, and maybe Finn would see the good in her and seduce her back to the light in episode 9.

So its been a while since I've seen Last Jedi but why does she like Finn? If I remember correctly, her family was murderer/besieged by the First Order right? Like even though we know Finn is a good dude, she could still hold onto that. Send her, Finn and Poe to Canto Bight and play with that dynamic. Rose doesnt trust Finn, Poe is too gung ho about war and Finn still kinda wants to run but also feels like he is a part of the Reistance now so he's fighting that urge.

I remember reading the leaked script, where Kylo was just thrown down the hole and never seen again. I legitimately thought that's how his character ended. I was incredibly relieved in the theatre when he actually climbed back up... only for him to die anyway lol.

Chewbacca in the transport, C-3PO's memory wipe, Kylo Ren on Endor's moon, Rey getting her essence drained by the Emperor, Ben getting his essence drained by the Emperor, Ben flung in the pit, Rey immediately following her killing the Emperor and his entire cult. Couldn't the fakeouts of the civilian fleet by the Emperor, and the plummet of Finn and the other First Order defector (sorry, can't remember her name) on the command ship count? [Added hours later] Wait, make it 8 fake deaths. The planet that Poe's love interest is on gets blown up after she gave the First Order captain's hall pass coin, her only ticket off the planet, to Poe.

That was the best move ever, and it's a great visual portrayal of how differently Abrams and Johnson saw Kylo as a character. Abrams wanted to create Vader's loyal successor, the fan-service-ish villian, and Johnson practically mocked that decision with the "take that ridiculous thing off" line. He couldn't wait to work with Adam and show the true potential of both character and actor without the mask to hide his emotions.

I think it helps because Kylo isn’t fully embracing the Dark Side, he’s always conflicted with light and dark and him being in and out of his helmet does show that. Helmet on is usually pure Dark Side and when he takes it off the light is able to effect him, as much as I think it would be really awesome to have Adam Driver act with the helmet for most of the first movie atleast I understand wanting to show his face so people can sympathize with him more

My issue with Rey's abilities is not whether or not she's related to Somebody, or whether or not she's strong in the Force. It's that she's amazing at so much with zero explanation. Piloting? Repairs? Deliberate use of Force abilities? Don't ask questions.

@@TheSchultinator wrong. Rey is a scavenger so she knows her way around a ship, AND it was said before that she's flown ships before. It's been shown MULTIPLE TIMES that you can use the force without training. Luke did it in episode 5 on Hoth.

@BlackbirdRX Just because Rey's a scavenger does not immediately make her an excellent mechanic, especially with systems she shouldn't have any familiarity with. Knowing what's a valuable part and where it can be found is not the same as knowing how it works or interacts with anything else, especially if all the ships Rey picks through are shattered hulks. Similarly, knowing how to fly to some level does not mean she is able to throw an old ship around like a starfighter. That's like taking a civvie Cessna pilot and expecting him to out-fly Maverick; it defies logic. Last, saying that Luke having to really focus to be able to pull a lightsaber is in any way equivalent to Rey using the Force to counter a mind probe and then mindtrick a guard is so disingenuous.

There is also plenty of modern day stories of complete nobodies who were able to become millionaires. This kind of scenario, while rare, is not impossible. It sends a message that true power comes not from bloodlines, but from one’s self, which while may not be realistic, is still a better message to send then just be the chosen one or you’re useless. If we get the same Star Wars story for the rest of our lives, nobody will care anymore.

I like all 11 movies, The Clone Wars, Rebels, and honestly even resistance is cool too. OGs are all perfect. The phantom menace is really cool because I love the characters and seeing Anakin as a boy. Attack of the clones is just a fun movie. ROTS is the best movie in the Star Wars universe just because it’s so epic. I like the sequels because the characters are good and they have a lot of cool action. And Kylo Ren is cool.

It's a reveal that made sense, considering how thoroughly embarrassed Hux is over the course of the first two films. I would expect him to pin that on Kylo and want to get back at him for it, but him shouting "I'M THE SPY" was a bit on-the-nose. I think TROS would have been a much better movie if they dedicated some screentime to actually show what the characters are feeling and to elaborate on major plot points. Especially the force healing thing. They should have explained that. My personal feelings towards the Prequels as a whole are that they suffer in certain aspects, but I really think that I can accept that and see the story through the flaws, and for the most part I think the story being told is actually pretty damn good in all three of them, it’s just told at a very slow pace that feels like a complete culture shock compared to the original films along with some odd choices, a few younger actors that are clearly still finding their footing, and some slightly clunky dialogue in places. All in all, I loved getting to see them, especially with the energy that Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid brought to them. In RoS, the only part of the movie I could remotely find myself enjoying was Ian’s acting and the voice lines from clone wars and prequels actors calling out to Rey. That was pretty much it…

Honestly the third film kind of kills the first one for me....Because I know what it ball builds up too. And it's...not great...

To me all the third entries were the best

Middle movie was the best with all of them in my books. ROTJ used to be my favourite and I never understood why everyone liked Empire. But now I get it whenever I rewatch them. Empire is miles ahead of the other two. I predict TLJ will stand the test of time: when everyone reaches that stage of revisiting it in a few years, the things that stick out when they rewatch Force Awakens will be all the flaws and things that don't make sense... everything JJ touches falls apart on rewatching. The things that stick out about TLJ will be all the incredible things they didn't appreciate at the time. The green milk will just be funny, the perfect middle-of-the-trilogy themes will be like a work of art, the ditching of Snoke will be seen as the best move the movie could've made. (Especially now that all the people who complained about "not getting to find out who Snoke is" (as if we ever found out who Palpatine was in the originals...) have found out who he is, just some stupid clone that makes no sense at all, and are realising JJ had no clue what he was doing with him to start with.) Everything's going to look different in retrospect and people will see that TLJ was really setting the 9th movie up for success, and that it was squandered.

Kirtahl He should’ve been the new Jedi Knight of the story, if you ask me. He would’ve been the perfect “no one” hero. Also because, for obvious reasons of background and skin color, no one would’ve even started theorizing about him being a Skywalker.

Kirtahl saying Finn would make a better main character is good only in concept if he was the main Jedi he would still be murdering his stormtrooper brothers and his arc would not be as good as you think it is trust me he just should have been an amazing side character like Han Solo or obi wan if they failed him as a side character then they would have failed him as a main character

Nah its not weird it just doesn't change anything. Palpatine appearing out of thin air OFF SCREEN and being her grandpa makes no sense. Her being a nobody was her identity. Yes she is supposed to find her identity as Rey but not as a damn Palpatine. No logic whatsoever

The prequels are operating on the assumption that almost everyone watching them is already fully aware that Anakin is going to become Darth Vader tho, like the marketing for TPM literally showed child Anakin casting a Darth Vader shaped+sized shadow on the wall next to him. Giving him concrete reasons for turning dark like anger at the murder of his mother and fear for the potential death of his wife is infinitely more interesting than him just feeling a vague pull towards the dark side.

Erm are you sure u watched the original trilogy? , it is known that anakin is Vader ? , what would change if it was subtle or not , we know the out come and how evil he becomes so if it was subtle it’s almost too dramatic of a change , we need to see why he’s pushed to the dark side in such a way he commits mass genocides . Kylo is handled fucking shit in the sequels so don’t even go there

He nothing like the man Obi Wan described in A New Hope, when he isn't killing an entire village of people he's STILL unlikeable, like when he tried to take on Dooku by himself, it's BORING Darth Vader is no longer a tragedy because ever since he became a Jedi he's been evil, apart from the first 30 minutes of Revenge of the Sith

Also the village he killed were vicious mindless monsters that murdered his mother ~ the same person he promised he would free later in Episode 1. And she just ends up dying in his arms at the last minute. Him murdering the sand people was wrong but it was still completely understandable why he did it lmao. Also if Anakin didn’t tap in to the dark side there and then, you’d be complaining that him becoming Vader is “too rushed”, when there’s plenty of justifiable reasons for why he did so over the course of three movies instead of one.

@@JayJaycubbs It's fine to be immature and emotional, Luke's like that in the OT however, Anakin is just straight up evil, even when he's not in emotionally stressful scenes he's talking about running a galactic dictatorship, and continually pushing Padme's boundaries after she repeatedly told him no. Book of Boba Fett proved the Tusken Raiders aren't just mindless monsters and most of the raiders that Anakin slaughtered weren't related to his mother's murder. There was a way to have Anakin tap into the dark side without it being forced and contrived I.E Clone Wars Anakin which was a perfect adaptation of his character. Not only is he a hero for the entire series but when he uses the dark side you the viewer question if he was justified or not because it got him results. Which perfectly explains why he was so quick to believe Palpatine in the first place. The prequel trilogy is fundamentally broken, they spent one movie explaining Anakin's fall to the darkside when the entire trilogy should have been about that
