My budget last month in the south of Thailand was $400. $70 for electricity to run the AC 20 hours a day, No rent, $12 for internet, 60 cents for my flip phone, $2 for water, $80 fuel for car. $10 for insurance. That's $175 without food. I eat out a lot and buy some foods for relatives. If I didn't eat restaurant food, it would be easy for me to live on $300 a month. I live on a paved road in rural Mai Seab/ Koh Khan. 1 mile to 7-11 and the freeway. 5 miles to KFC or hospital. 20 miles to Phattalung. My house is paid for.

Thanks for the video and info. Last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I did not eat any western food due to way more expensive and been eating Thai food in the market. In my early 50's now, I was planning to retire but I changed my mind in the very last second due to the fact that it's all westernized nowadays and the prices are doubled and tripled so I came back to work in CA. Better be off to Siem Riep, Penang or Manila next time.

Another good video Tony. Does your VISA cost cover agents? Or is that what you pay to brave immigration yourself? Keep up the great work!

There’s a fee that you have to pay for visa services. A lot of people do not use any visa service at all.

Tony, I think that if you start offering audio book readings you will get even way more KZfaq followers (NOT knocking this channel at all). Give it some thought. I feel like listening to your voice while you read a book will offer a soothing and relaxing experience! Ask Kendall about it. Have to come up with a way to promote. And man, I wish I could come over to Thailand and meet you both and just hang!

You can save more on electricity by investing in DC air. it is a bit high to install, but will pay itself off in about two years and save you quite a bit of money afterwards.

Thank you again for a great video. I am really contemplating going to Thailand to retire but would you suggest going to Thailand on a 1-year education visa to try it out and see if I would enjoy it and then switching to a retirement visa if I decide to stay? Also, you mentioned the motorbike insurance, if I did go there on an education visa and rented a bike for that period, would I still be able to buy insurance for that rented bike? Thanks again.

Ed visa idea would be good! If you rent, the motorcycle should have insurance on it.

I have been trying to find info straight from an expat about how they access their money. Do you open a local bank and have money deposited in from outside the country? Do you just go to ATMs all the time? I think this is my biggest worry right now. Would love to see someone talk about that.

Open a bank account here in Thailand and transfer as needed, money from your bank in your home country to Thailand using the WISE app. For the cheapest fee, link your banking account with WISE.

Every year when we renew our plan, we go into the AI office in the mall and we buy whatever the special is which is around the price I stated. It seems like it’s a better deal than getting anything on their app on your phone.

Thank you for being one of the first vloggers to price in the local currency. Im from the UK living in Thailand and Vietnam and it drives me nuts that every American vlogger and an increasing number of UK vloggers price everything in US dollars. The world doesn't revolve around America, so i just dont get it. Price in the local currency and the world can convert into their own currency, SIMPLE!! 👍🥳🥳
