When I buy blocks of cheese I also grate them before freezing the ziplock bags. One thing I have found that works well is after grating a block I add 1 spoonful of cornstarch to the shredded cheese and shake it in its bag. I find it helps to keep the cheese shreds from clumping together in the freezer.

I’ve been a longtime Costco shopper. When I was hit by a car (pedestrian in the crosswalk) it was difficult for me to go into the warehouse. I discovered the Costco app and online shopping. Somethings are only available online. Somethings only at the warehouse. I end up buying about $200/mo just online even now. Having it delivered is such a blessing

I hope you sued Costco they expect good customers not almost killed ones. They can make that store better equipped to prevent issues of traffic. Ive seen some with rails and no driving thru. So I know it's possible. Heal well. Very scarry.

I am a single 64 year old woman. I have for the past 5 years kept a supply of personal use, food, cleaning, pet supplies on hand due to the same thing you mentioned : job loss, illness, the pandemic. It saves me money time, energy. And because I have been diligent my hauls are now smaller and more apt to be focused. I found a deal on Mac and Cheese recently $.48 American and purchased 14 boxes. Alot for one person but it will keep

Having food on hand for a few months greatly reduces my stress level. I have experienced numerous events in the past that made it difficult to afford day to day expenses, some of those lasting up to 3 months. I years ago began to stock a pantry so I could scratch cook. Then I began canning and increased my gardening efforts. There is comfort in knowing that you are able to get through tough financial times, and still eat well. I love your recipes, and I am looking forward to you pulling out more old cookbooks and making more recipes this winter.

Great video! I'm sure you know this but for anyone who doesn't....if you leave the cheddar/marble cheese blocks unopened in the fridge for a few months it will become aged cheddar! I left one of my mild cheddar blocks for almost a year and it turned out beautifully. Saves alot of money this way:)

I used to make my own shampoo. It wasn’t particularly hard. The kind I made was just a mixture of coconut milk and unscented liquid castile soap with added essential oils (I used rosemary because it’s good for hair). It definitely worked and was hydrating enough that I didn’t need conditioner that often. Plus I have a severe citrus allergy so I have to be careful with a lot of beauty products. I now use the Pure Zero brand coconut shampoo and conditioner. I have also used bar shampoos in the past and liked those as well. Bonus there is they’re very compact and last a long time with no bulky plastic packaging. On another note, all cheese aged 18 months or longer is naturally 99% lactose free! So most people with lactose intolerance can handle aged cheeses very well.

I don't know how we'd have coped without my stocked freezer and shelves when I lost my ability to work. It was a very close run thing to get to my diagnosis. Even now, it's only my ability to grow what I do, preserve and stock it that off sets my low income. I remain shocked at how many cruel people there are, safe in their assumption that chronic illness can never happen to them, so demanding others don't deserve help.

On the tomato paste: "It's something that I don't use a ton of, do I bought 4 cases."😆😂🤣 Haha! I love it! Most people buy 1 or 2 cans. 1 case would be seriously stocking up for them. But I totally get it! And I'm happy you got a new huge pot! I bet yours will be mostly for canning, but I am all about the gigantic-sized pots these days. That's the only way we have leftovers.

FYI-$25 is very reasonable for good shampoo & conditioner. You do not want to put garbage stuff in your hair or it will leave it dry and stripped. I spend $120 on a large bottle of shampoo and conditioner but I am a licensed cosmetologist and wouldn’t put anything less in my hair.

The Kirkland Brand Foodsaver bags I am finding to be very good and work just as well as the name brand . I am an Executive member and was able to use the coupons and purchase enough to last a year . I reuse the bags . I find that using these bags has vastly improved the quality of the meat/produce that I freeze . I found a moose roast that was 5 years old in the depths of our chest freezer and it was perfect .

Please please please the recipe for Almond, Cherry, Chocolate Chip Oatmeal sounds delicious. Also for the Glory Bowls thank you. Frugal tip - @ the end of the season look for winter coats, boots etc and purchase them at a much lower price. Yes, you might end up with a second town spring/ fall jacket but if you only paid a few dollars it won't matter and you will have two jackets that last a very long time as you switch them back and forth. I live in Maine and keep my winter gear for years one pair of boots is at least 20 years old

Completely appreciate that watching the prices on an order that size is difficult. Things that don’t scan correctly are a pet peeve of mine. You might want to look into the Scanning Code of Practice. Many large Canadian retailers participate including Costco. If mistake found item is free if under ten dollars, if more expensive ten dollar max. If you have bought say three of same item that applies to only the first one, the others just get the price adjustment. If the store suggests doing something else, use the words Scanning Code of Practice and ask to speak to supervisor. I know which stores I shop at that participate. Retail Council of Canada has a list. I do not leave the store or parking lot without checking my receipt. Over the years I have saved enough to make the time worthwhile.

Always interesting to see what you folks purchase - those Pita Crackers are so yummy. I think the price of the shampoo/conditioner (for non toxic ingredients) is actually not bad at all. An interesting aside if I may. I've just recently come to find out after 40+ years that I've been shampooing my hair all wrong 🙃 - and all this thanks to another KZfaqr who has a hair channel. Most of us are using far too much product to wash and condition. Since I've been following his advice, I go through half as much product. I know in the case of my kids, they seem to think a boatload of product and lather means they're getting their hair really clean 😁

I’ve been using clays for shampooing and ACV for a rinse. Very cost effective and works really surprisingly well! 4 of my daughters and myself all have very long hair! And I have zero complaints…. Sometimes sometimes when we need more detangling we use .. I believe it’s called Calia? It’s a Canadian based co. It’s expensive but a one gallon jug of conditioner at about lasts a year when we mostly use the ACV, we have a family of 11 for perspective.

I would look into the use of Benadryl because many doctors are not recommending it anymore. It has been linked to early onset dementia and in the case of an emergency it can be hard because it makes people sleepy and its hard to know if Benadryl is making the person sleepy or if its the allergy. Just something to consider anyway. I do think that a dose in the case of emergency is not a bad thing but doctors are recommending things like zyrtec instead.

I like these Costco hauls, because it helps me keep track of prices at Costco, without making the trip.

Pre-grated cheese also has starch added to keep the shreds from sticking together which adds unwanted carbs to your cheese.

Chelsea, if that is not normally a shampoo and conditioner that you all use, I'd go light on the first round. My daughter has worked for a beauty supply store for several years now and some of the more natural shampoo/conditioners that she has found for me, I actually use a lot less product than the standard Suave type shampoos at the store. So, a small bottle will actually last me a few months. Newer products seem to be more condensed. You may find that you only need a quarter of the amount you are used to using. Would be interested to know how well it works for you, I have a couple that are apple cider vinegar based and being a blonde, with thinner hair, sometimes it weighs down my hair too much, and I have to use it alternately with something else. For your curls, it may be just perfect, though, giving them good hydration.

You guys are awesome parents! Y'all work hard, love hard and are just truly inspiring. Great ideas every time i see a video. You definitely have had me always checking for the next video. Me and my Dad watch your channel and he doesn't watch anything on KZfaq that much reallly. Except for old car videos, hunting/fishing videos. But, he always says you have the sweetest voice😅 he's to funny. We can't wait to see your next pantry tour again. The last one blew our mind😮 We have like 4 cases of tomato gravy in pints and quarts. A little bit of canned meat that my brother did. So, you give us so many ideas and im thankful for you.❤. You're so right about buying block cheese and just shredding it yourself. It's alot better for you. I loved those bowls with the different colors as well! I will say I'll miss the garden and seeing the high tunnel for this year. We live in Florida and i wish we could see or have just a pinch of that cold weather from time to time. Because it's just hot here. Which we have about 3 months of cold weather. But, nothing that would compare to you guys at all😂 im ready for it to get to cooler weather though. Can't wait for your next video😊

Hey Chelsea, tell your husband that 1 to 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream in any of the flavors of Zevia, is SO good. The Rootbeer one makes it taste like a rootbeer float!

I think that green town jacket is going to be great on you. The tucking in the back was very pretty and chic. I love being "in" on presents and was grinning and nodding the whole time! Thanks for sharing and much love to you and yours from me and mine.❤

I freeze cheese also, and find that vacuum sealing and placing inside an additional wrap (bag) makes a huge difference.

I'm glad you told that about the block cheese and grating yourself. I didn't know they added additives. Now I know why it's better to grate your own! Thanks for that info!
