The Northrock XC29 mountain bike from Costco was $640 delivered and came mostly per-assembled.
The Northrock XC29 mountain bike from Costco is a great entry level mountain bike for a fair price. It is good for the causal cyclist.

I live in Toronto Canada and I just bought it last week for $399.00 . Canadian B4 tax ... $450 something with tax ...I love it but I think I might need a different seat ... I'm finding it a little bit hard . I am 5 foot 7 and half tall and it's fine for me . But I want to raise the handlebars so I'm not slouched ... Just bought a tool kit to do it ... If anyone can suggest a good strong back rack for putting groceries on etc ...I would appreciate it .

Whhhhaaatttt??? That’s a great deal! A new saddle will help, these are cheap but ok. Bike shorts with a padded arse might help more though. Most people serious about cycling upgrade both. Raising the bars is a great idea, way more comfortable. Hope you find a good strong grocery rack, never used one. Thanks for your comment!

Wow thanks for the video! Definitely made me reassure myself about buying my girlfriend her new XC29. We found a smoking deal $345 brand new!!! We live in winnipeg Manitoba and it was at a surplus direct store!

I really appreciate your reviews, and posted comments on some of your other videos. I stumbled on your channel because of the Northrock bike. My wife knows I'm looking for a new bike but she's not a gear hound like I am, so if she finds something cheap she's like "look at this!" Still, this bike is interesting. It is made by Giant, and the geometry is similar-ish to the Talon, but a bit more upright so likely more comfortable. Yes, I've already researched it - I research the hell out of stuff before I buy. The components are crap but these could be swapped out and this could be converted into a low-end 29er gravel bike. Anyway, I went ahead and bought the XC00 because I've wanted to try fat biking on snow and figured why not. Costco owes you a commission because I bought the XC00 based on your review. Keep up your reviews, good stuff.

Ha ha I expect that commission check any day now 😉 Thank you for your comments! These northrock bikes are just too good not to share. They are exactly like you say. I've been really surprised by how well the cheap components have held up especially in the cold weather conditions. Expected to be swapping things out too, but haven't had to yet even. Normally the bikes at Costco are crap, but these northrock and a pleasant exception. Have a good one Mike, thanks again!

The Northrock XC27 mountain bike is less expensive. I wonder if it is a better value than the XC29 because the XC27 appears to be similarly equipped.

I saw that as well! The XC27 is a phenomenal deal. I chose the 29 because of my gangly limbs, geometrically speaking it's so much more comfortable on my body to ride. You wouldn't think 2" larger tires would make that much of a difference but it really does. If you have normal body proportions I'd go with the 27 for sure though.

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thanks for the reply. I also have a 29er, a 2014 Mongoose Switchback. I got it on clearance for a $169, retail $350. It is still going strong after 10,000 miles of roads and trails. Sometimes a cheap bike can be a bargain. It has front and rear disc brakes and quick release on the front and rear tires. It is an incredibly reliable bike. I am using Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tires. Although they are heavy, I have ridden thousands of miles without any flats.

Incredible! Great to know there are other inexpensive brands as well. I'm going to have to try a mongoose! I tried a different cheap model from Walmart last year (gravel bike) and it was not very good. Like you, I'm always looking for great deals on bikes. Seems like they are really coming down in price right now. You gave me the idea to buy the '27er to try it out! There are some advantages to that tire size as well. Thank you!

Hey - I’m looking to ride this bike on a city paved trail or roads. Do you recommend the XC29 or XC27 for me? I’m 5’-10” - 250 lbs

This bike will work great for that. Either frame will work for your height and weight, the difference in wheel size was negligible to be honest with you. If you're riding on paved trail and roads I don't think you'll notice much of a difference other than the 29 inch wheels lift your feet further off the ground.

They’re both medium size frame only difference is tire diameter.

It's a medium frame so it really depends on how long your legs are. Personally at 4'11" I'd choose a smaller frame or 26" tires.

I've spoken with a few people in that weight range who ride this bike and the northrock XC00 and have no problem so yes! I applaud your choice to ride an actual bicycle outside and not the indoors kind, riding outside has way more benefits and is way more fun. Enjoy!

Myself I’m medium sized I guess? 6’ 235lbs. Medium to medium large? I guess it depends compared to folks of what country. In Iceland I’m probably small 😅

Hi I am Looking at xc27 mountain bike at Cosco ! Is it older version of xc29 ? I am assuming it’s also a basic entry level mountain bike ?!😉

Great question! I'd buy it asap they disappear fast! One of the few actual good deals at Costco! XC27 just means the tires are small (27"). If you're under 6" tall the small wheel diameter is actually preferable. Same bike, different tire size. Hope that helps! Basic entry level but high-quality. It will handle green to even blue mountain trails and very small jumps. I wouldn't push it much harder than that.

@@Viralwebus007us I did not pay for it nor do I know of any protection plan. I always assume anything from Costco that breaks in the first 6 months of owning it can be returned that’s usually good enough for me

Wheelies might be ok, but if you take this thing actual MTB, any jumps at all and you could destroy the forks in one ride

Good for 6'0'' and 320lbs ? For usual city rides and occasional moderate trails.

I think for city rides you're fine for sure. Trail ratings are really subjective, I wouldn't push it with hard corners or bumps (at any body weight). It could probably handle it by why take the chance.

@@nikhil4429 in this price range this bike is honestly the best value for your money. With the bigger tires and frame it's perfect for bigger people like us. My recommendations would be an entry level bike from Giant or trek but they're another +300-$400 easy.
