At a first glance you might think Amsterdam is not a gastronomic destination but the Dutch have imported the best of the best from around the world in terms of dishes and ingredients. You just have to stay away from the touristy restaurant and discover the ones that locals go to which aren't in the center. That is difficult to do on a first trip without knowing some locals or the neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. The city is like a labyrinth with hidden gems. Plus there are hundreds of different supermarkets there. Fresh produce and foods from around the world in a supermarket is unparalleled in The Netherlands. And it's true, food and everything else is super expensive.

I am so sorry, I have expressed myself incorrectly. What I wanted to mean about gastronomic destination, is that national cuisine is not something to go there for. I noticed that Amsterdam it's very rich in terms of multiculturalism and very welcoming and for sure, cuisines around the world have blended and flourished beautifully over there. There are for sure yummy restaurants that tourists have no idea bout and I would love to try them some day if I get the chance to go back. The thing is that I love trying all sorts of national food when I am visiting a place, and I didn't find anything that would appeal my eyes 😬. Maybe in terms of food, I am turning into a grumpy Italian I don't know. It could be 🤪🤪 Have a great week! 🌸❤️🤗

@@cozyhomediary I concur, the national foods are not stellar and nothing to write home about even if sometimes I like some old fashioned Dutch stampoot (mashed potatoes with veggies) with meatballs. :) If you ever visit back and I can be your guide for a day, let me know. :)

Video meraviglioso che mi ha riportata a parecchi anni fa quando, in camper, ho girato tutto il Benelux… un’esperienza favolosa, tanta emozione! Non sono avvezza ai musei, tuttavia non potevo mancare quello di Anna Frank e, anche se questi due li ho voluti ammirare completamente da sola (famiglia e cane che mi aspettavano perché non appassionati d’arte come la sottoscritta)… il Van Gogh e la casa di Rembrant! Quanto mi è piaciuta quest’ultima, ci tornerei nuovamente… un tripudio di meraviglia! Ci siamo stati in piena estate con un caldo da devasto, ma è uno dei viaggi che ricordo con maggiore emozione! Che bella la ripresa dall’aereo, pensa che il mio primo volo l’ho fatto un anno fa andando in Islanda, ero terrorizzata ma mi ha talmente affascinata che tra due giorni parto per l’Egitto, sono già in fibrillazione adesso solo all’idea di volare di nuovo, nonostante sia costretta a pernottare a Milano perché i voli da Trieste manchino… non avrei mai pensato mi potesse piacere così tanto! Poi lassù ho paura, ma che figata!

Che bellooooo in camper!!! Anche io vorrei farci un esperienza così. Mamma mia quanto mi dispiace di non aver trovato i biglietti per la casa di Anna Frank e Van Gogh 😢. Non ti dico che file che c'erano fuori di gente con i biglietti. Non mi aspettavo una richiesta così assurda. Tutto pieno per un mese 😱😱😱. È vedo la casa di Rembrandt è fantastica, sia io che i miei genitori siamo rimasti impressionati. Comunque noi siamo stati devastati dal freddo e voi dal caldo 🤦🏻♀️ A quanto pare Olanda non ha mezzi termini hahahha. Io viaggio da 20 anni in aereo e non mi fa paura per nulla, anzi viaggerei non-stop se avessi la possibilita. 😬 Ecco l'Islanda è un'altra meta che mi piacerebbe tanto visitare. ❤️ Che bellooooo, vorrei venire con te in Egitto 😬 sono stata 2 volte e tornerei tante altre. Sono appassionata di egittologia e mi mancano tutti i tempi da vedere 😭😭😭. Pensa che nel mio libro parlo di essi e non li ho mai visitati 🤦🏻♀️. Solo nei documentari. Non so perché, ma ultimamente ho una voglia di viaggiare assurda hhahahah. Comunque fai buon viaggio e divertiti anche per me. heheh Dove andrai di bello?

@@cozyhomediary facciamo tappa al Cairo ed Assuan, crociera sul Nilo, Abu Simbel, templi e tempietti vari, la Valle dei Re e tutte quelle belle cose con le quali mi hanno tormentata a scuola e ora vado a controllare se esistono davvero 🤣. Poi a giugno ho organizzato cinque giorni a Barcellona così si vola di nuovo e a luglio due settimane in camper per visitare la Serbia. In camper viaggio da vent’anni e siamo arrivati fino al confine con la Russia, ci manca solo la penisola iberica ma aspettiamo la pensione (almeno quella di mio marito che ha più difficoltà con le ferie). Quando ci sono stata io ad Amsterdam non c’erano queste file immense ma del resto non era abitudine acquistare tutto on line, cosa che per Barcellona ho dovuto fare e con tanto di appuntamento, un po’ perché le abitudini sono cambiate e molto perché oramai la gente ha capito quanto conti la libertà di viaggiare e ne ha davvero fame!

@@cozyhomediary la Romania è nei nostri piani da anni: dovevamo andare in Transilvania ma prima la malattia di mia madre e poi il periodo demenziale del covid ci hanno fatto perdere anni preziosi. Ma recupereremo tutto!

Like everyone else the first time one visitor to a different country or culture is difficult to understand and experience the real gems that every country in the world has unless one spends a significant amount of time with locals or tour guides to see what they country’s culture and customs is all about you did a fantastic job with what you were able to learn and see But most important was sharing with your family 👏❤ thank you

Thanks! Yeaaaaah it was super crowded, but it's worth it. ❤️ Perhaps the season didn't help either because everyone goes there for the tulips. Unfortunately we weren't lucky with the weather, but I heard that is always like that 😫

Amsterdam is a regular vacation destination for me and my French husband, who lives in France, as it's not very far away. We normally come here for the good atmosphere and the Indonesian food that considered as a local cuisine (which is funny). There are many Indonesian restaurants with an authentic taste and not expensive, which makes it quite cost-effective for me, because of the cost of transport, if I miss the food from my home country, to go only to Amsterdam instead of going to Jakarta directly from France. What's more, everything is within walking distance. I always lost about 4 kg when I stayed about 1 week in Amsterdam because we walk a lot.

Oh my, Indonesia is on my bucket list. That's an amazingly spectacular country. I wish I could go there soon. And maybe make a video too hehehe. I never tried Indonesian food and I missed it in Amsterdam perhaps because we were concentrated to find Dutch cuisine... And yeah, I think we lost some kilos as well because we walked a lot. One day my phone showed me 22 km. That's quite a lot. Hahaha Have a great week and thank you for letting me know about the restaurants over there. If I return, i will definitely go and eat there. ❤️

Yeah, it was the first time. I always used the Italian moka, the American filter or the Turkish way 😬 Yeah, I didn't have time last week. I am trying my best to post every week, but sometimes it can be very overwhelming with my job and everything. Some videos, even the simples ones in the house make take me 2-3 days to produce (for 1 video). This vlog in Amsterdam it took ageeeeees. I had so much material it was so hard to choose from and to edit. But I promise i will do my best to keep up with timing. Maybe make them shorter, I don't know 😁 Have a great week! ❤️🌸😘

But in 1985, when I was five, my family and I moved to Los Angeles. We have been here ever since but I often entertain the idea of moving abroad. I don’t see myself living in America for the rest of my life.

Iran is one of the places I was dreaming to go and visit due to its ancient history (I love ancient history), but with today's situation... I know Armenia has some really beautiful sites as well and I would love to visit it as well. Let's go together hahahah. Los Angeles used to be a dream of mine when I used to live in NY, but that chaotic way of life isn't for me. My mental health was really down when I lived in USA. Maybe outside the cities the situation would have been differently. Where would you like to live?

Sinon il faut les régler manuellement sur la petite roue de l'écran. D'où regardez-vous les vidéos ? Depuis votre téléphone portable ou votre ordinateur? Pour que je puisse vous guider dans le réglage des sous-titres en français.

@@veroniquedominguez4491 Ensuite, sur le téléphone, il faut aller sur la petite roue en haut à droite de l'écran. Si vous appuyez dessus, les paramètres apparaîtront. Si vous appuyez sur les sous-titres, ils devraient apparaître instantanément, mais contrairement à l'ordinateur, je pense qu'il faut les régler à chaque fois après la publicité. N'hésitez pas à me faire savoir si vous les voyez. 🤗❤😘

Yikes! Very expensive lodging. Unfortunate. Amsterdam didn’t use to be that expensive. Now it’s roughly on par with Paris prices. Particularly post-pandemic.

And this was one of the cheapest I found . 😁😁 Maybe it's so expensive due to tulip season, I don't know... But from what I understood there and as you say, things have gotten crazy post-pandemic. Also the insane amount of tourists has led to these prices. Too bad! There are a lot of beautiful things too be seen yet...

@@cozyhomediary I suspect part of it is due to the strict crackdown by Amsterdam city government on the number of AirBnBs. With less lodging options the prices of existing options typically increases. It’ll always be a beautiful city but just not affordable now. In the busy Summer tourist season I’ve seen rates as high as 1,000 Euros per night for one of the luxury hotels near Dam Square.

@@Kevin_Finch Yeah, that could be also. I heard that they want to do the same thing with airbnb in Milan (which is already very expensive) if they already didn't do it.... What a shame... Living and visiting these cities will be only for the rich people....

@@Kevin_FinchI love Damsko but even for me, Dutch, it is almost impossible to pay for a cheap hotel. I use to go a few times a year, but after COVID everything changed. No staff, crowded. You and your folks should come back when the weather is more sunny. I promise you an even nicer Amsterdam. Thank you for the nice video. And stay away from the tourist traps. Especially the TikTok shops. ❤
