In today's video, I'd like to show you the condition of our house before we purchased it. It was an abandoned 100-year-old countryside house at the outskirts of Milan. Despite our family and friends being against our decision, we embarked on a two-year journey to completely restructure it and give it a new life.
I apologise for the poor quality footage; at the time, I didn't plan to create a diary tracking the progress of the changes. The videos were shot with an old phone that didn't have a high-quality camera, and despite my efforts to stabilise the image and export it well, the result is what it is.

I think living in a 100 year old house is very special, the house has its history, its energy. Thinking of all the people who lived there, raised children, cooked, read books. Looks like the previous owners liked books as you do!This house has a soul, and now you’re a part of it, bringing your own personality into it. And by the way, I like the fence, it’s not ugly at all, it’s antique and adds a special feature to the house. You did a great job!❤

It's true!!!! There is a whole history behind all the books and paper the previous owner has stacked upstairs. It could be an interesting story to write 😬 I like the fence too, but even if it doesn't show off in the video, it's a bit sloped so it might be dangerous. Maybe the fault is also of the tree's roots I don't know. But we definitely have to re-build it or reinforce it in a way or another. And then I will cover it with ivy or a similar plant. 🤗💚🌸

I love that mirror! Please find a place for it (perhaps in your future office, so it can inspire you while you write?), I think it deserves to be admired. I think mixing up antique furniture with modern, clean lines is a beautiful way to honour the past and give the house a soul. Enhorabuena por el proyecto de vida que habéis empezado...evidentemente con todas sus luces y sombras pero es que al final eso es lo más importante!!! Lucha y sacrificio por un precioso resultado!! Es espectacular el cambio de la casa.Aqui en España también se venden casas antiguas con todas las pertenecias de sus antiguos dueños!!! ¡Gracias de todo corazón! ❤️ Si digamos que tuvimos algunos contratiempos en el camino (un poco jajajja) pero al final seguimos viendo un buen resultado. Esta casa tenia muchas cosas, pero pocas 'valiosas' en el sentido de belleza. Al estar abandonada, hay muchos trastos. Una chica me dio la idea de colgar el espejo en mi despacho del ático (lo montaré pronto 🎉) para inspirarme a escribir mi libro 😬. Me parece una idea preciosa, pero a ver qué tal con mi pareja 😂😂😂. ¡Un abrazo y que tengas una gran semana! 🤗😘❤️

Я как раз понимаю и поддерживаю такое смелое решение, которое Вы приняли. Обычно это стезя тех, кто 1) любит переделывать и ремонтировать, либо 2) молод + полон сил и пока не понимает всех последствий. Но результат стоит того! Если кто-то желает иметь красивый дом, в него нужно вкладываться. Вы огромная молодец!

I have a mirror exactly like this but bigger in my entry hall, everyone who comes in comments positively on it (okay I know mostly other foreigners) maybe Italians don’t like them as they remind them of the past. I got it at a fleamarket in Alba. Yours is beautiful, what a shame to hide it on the attic. 😊

La casa, anche quando era in condizioni orrende, emanava già tutto il suo potenziale, e poi gli alberi, il cinguettio degli uccellini, il parco vicino! Anch’io me ne sarei innamorata a prima prima, e voi l’avete trasformata nel vostro piccolo castello incantato, dove vivrete in serenità la vostra favola. Per me la casa è questo, non solo un luogo di passaggio dove dormire e mangiare. Il a fallu beaucoup de patience, beaucoup de temps et beaucoup d'argent pour des dépenses imprévues 😆😆😆😆😆. Cependant, cette variation des choses que nous achetons et expliquons à nos gens qu'ils sont vieux fonctionne toujours 😂😂😂😂 Ils ne se souviennent jamais de rien. 🤭🤭🤭 Il y a encore beaucoup de travail à faire dans cette maison, mais lentement. OMG you're so brave to do all the sorting yourself! By the way, you're not the only one with different decorating tastes in couples. My French husband loves modern and industrial decor, which is the opposite of me, who loves antique and vintage style. So in the end, we opted for japandi mix mid century decor for our home. This way, I can freely choose vintage furniture and mid-century crokerys that fit perfectly into our home without him noticing and saying "Oh it's like and smells like my grandmother's house. " lol. I can say 80% the things in my house are vintage from the second hand, charity shop, antique shop or family's heirlooms which i am proud of

(though we are not legally married) Oh, I love japandi as well. (I will do that in my next castle-house hahahah). Oh my, oh my, your husband also says the same things as mine. @@cozyhomediary Yes, fortunately, mid-century and Scandinavian style have been back in vogue in recent years. I made a pretty tight selection with a simple but timeless design, so he won't notice much. I'm also lucky enough to have a mother-in-law with the same taste as me. Normally, the French are very understanding when their mother tells them something. That's the case with my husband. hahaha. I don't know if Italians do the same.

Grazie mille e chiedo scusa se le ho dato del tu finora, il mio modo di esprimermi non è dovuto alla mancanza di rispetto, ma non vedendo la persona, scatta in modo naturale... ☺️ Per lo specchio sto ancora pensando dove posso inserirlo perché si discosta molto dall'attuale arredamento, ma sicuramente non lo darò via. 😂 E sì i piatti sono modernissimi anche se hanno la loro età 😬 Per il muro di cinta, il problema è che è molto inclinato verso il nostro cortile. Non si vede nel video, ma sembra che possa cadere da un giorno all'altro e questa cosa ci preoccupa un po'. Forse è colpa anche delle radici degli alberi che sono molto potenti sotto. (da quello che abbiamo analizzato). Sicuramente sarebbe bello lasciarlo così, ricoperto dalle piante di cui parlavamo. 💚 Siamo stati molto fortunati nell'aver visto il potenziale, ma anche un po' incoscienti perché è stata veramente dura 😂😂😂😂 Grazie mille per tutti gli incorraggiamenti. Bonjour Cory, jcomprends pourquoi vous avez acheté cette maison malgré le travail considérable qu'il y avait. Elle a un charme fou et l'environnement est très beau. Ce que vous en fait avec courage est superbe. En France quand on achète une maison les anciens propriétaires doivent la vider entièrement. Il ne doit rien rester sauf accord contraire. Les maisons ne sont pas vendues meublées. Je suis vraiment impressionnée par tout ce travail. J'espère au moins que le prix était moins élevé du fait de tout ce nettoyage à faire. 😅 ❤

Merci beaucoup ❤️🌸 Oui c'était un travail "inhumain" car tout était en piteux état, à commencer par tout ce qui était à l'intérieur que nous avons trié et jeté. Mais nous avons ainsi économisé quelques milliers d'euros que la société de nettoyage aurait pris si elle était venue le faire pour nous. L'environnement est magnifique même si ce n'est pas une colline hollywoodienne. 😂😂😂😂 Mais c'est suffisant pour apporter de la sérénité. Même en Italie, les maisons doivent être vidées en général. Mais nous avons passé un accord avec l'héritier et il nous a fait une belle remise, donc nous avons encore économisé 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬. Nous n'avons construit cette maison qu'avec notre propre argent, nous avons donc essayé d'économiser sur tout ce que nous pouvions 😁 Merci encore et bonne fin de semaine ! ❤️🌸🤗😘

I understand your point of view, but please bear with me! The park you saw in the video is a "savage" park (growing on an ex-industrial dump) with a rapid and overwhelming growth that often makes passage difficult in some spots. That's why the plants here are often pruned. I don't usually hang around and tear nature apart. I only take some branches once in a while, and I know which ones to take to avoid harming the tree. I understand that I might not seem like the right person to do this, but I can assure you that nature grows even more vigorously after pruning. I hope my words provide some comfort and show that I am not a savage, crazy, careless person. On the contrary, I love nature with all my heart 💚💚💚. I wish you a beautiful day! ☺️
