In this video, I discuss the best ways ahead for installing amps based off previous successes and failures.
While everything in the past has always worked out as a success in the end it has, however, sometimes been a lengthy process. Even if I end up with a superior product to a shorter process, I realize that sometimes the shorter process is better given a time value assessment. I display my Mandalorian and Darth Vader black series helmets, and talk about those installs. my Darth Vader black series helmet was very in-depth very complicated and turned out very cool in the end, however, it was weeks of work, which few people are willing to commit. So I have recommendations on where to put your energy and how you can achieve a great product and much less time. Enter much of it has to do with your choice in amplifier. Finding the best amplifier with the smallest footprint is the key to success. I’ve found that in the model V - 307, available under the brand names, Moukey and Dominox Bass. However, unfortunately, after sharing that with the community, those things are consistently sold out. There are other viable alternatives just not at that micro size that they have to offer.
Our primary focus is a small board with good power and quality of audio, a small Lipo battery that’s flat and easy to conceal within a helmet, so you can have an OEM look, as if you are the character that you’re representing, rather than wearing a large personal amplifier around your waist. I also discuss speaker usage and swapping out regular speakers as needed for smaller exciters. Exciters are essentially a pre-speaker that can turn your helmet or your armor into a speaker itself. I also discuss microphones the ones that come with these amps are great given they’re on, an adjustable gooseneck that can blend in well inside the mask and look OEM.

Just received the Amp! Thanks! Quick question because I’m a noob with all of this. Do you have a video available that shows step by step, how to connect the amp with the I9 voice changer together? Like what wires go where and what kind to use to make it all work. I cant figure out what to plug where so it all works. Thanks again

Hey Carlos! Here I talk through how I did it on a similar amp: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLRnd9yV2NfWqWg.htmlsi=jWKy0Uz5QQAuO3XV In its description are the detailed instructions. Here’s an excerpt of what you’re likely looking for: - TO OUTPUT TO AN AMPLIFIER/SPEAKER: A dedicated Mic goes in the mic port on top & an amplified speaker goes into “headset” port on bottom. For the speaker you must use a TRRS cable - those are the types if cables that came with the i9 (3 plastic separators & 4 metal sections on the 3.5 mm tip).

I’m building a Mandalorian for comic con next year (Paz Vizsla in particular) I’m running the speaker into the chest peace I’m going to experiment with a surface transducer, have you ever tried one?

Yep- they work great. I used one in my Mandalorian helmet video - SHORT: kzfaq.infozuAJMUiYEOc?si=qTTWdX4UT44lIw-U - FULL VIDEO: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7Z3n7mlp9WyiZs.htmlsi=cl6s7ObJczq8ABLv And I also test out a bunch for potential use in that helmet in this short: kzfaq.infoV53RSVV6kp4?si=v-R18afEAzTia0W6 What I didn’t test in that video was options with the arms since they don’t work well on the helmet curves or small areas, but may work well when attached under your chest armor.

New to this... what would the sd card be used for in this instance. Great channel! Subbed. Keep up the great work.

I think i get it, pre-recorded media files to play over the speaker.

Yep. I put the theme song on there for each character, like Mandalorian theme, & for Darth Vader it’s the imperial March, plus the breathing, quotes, etc. Thanks for the feedback and the sub!

Im using same exciter as you, along with a gutted personal amp. How do you avoid the feedback issue??

I try to get the exciter as far from my mic as possible, not point the speaker or mic at each other, ensure my amp isn’t too loud, and ensure that the mic neck or microphone head do not touch hard parts of the helmet face, ensure there’s a foam buffer, because if they touch - they’ll pass the vibrations from the mask into your mic, yielding increased feedback.

I am simply looking to reproduce the effect on the mandalorian voice for the helmet, I came across your recommendation for the I9 and I would like to know if speaker is included or do I need a certain one to plug in it?

You need both a mic and an external amp with speaker to use with the i9 voice changer. Here is what I integrate it with - a personal amp that I gut and integrate into a helmet: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zsxxeq18ntDHn2g.html -- that one is a small and fit well in helmets. Check amazon and walmart.com to see if you can find it there, if not I just bought a bulk load of them I may be selling soon.

Ensure the mic and speaker are as far away as possible and the mic and speaker are not pointing towards each other. (Directional mics are better in this context) . And don’t let your mic neck or mic touch the mask, as they will convey the vibrations into the mic and yield feedback. I put foam behind my mic neck and face the mice to the mask front so the foam cushions the mic from absorbing vibrations.

Ive tried just about everything to solve the feedback issue but nothing seems to work reliably for me. Im considering just going with fans in the helmet and using a personal amp (not gutted lol) mounted somewhere under cape or behind armor. My question is can The I9 voice changer be used with a wireless mic and mini amp? Or is there no way around the wired mic option if using the voice changer?

Bummer dude. What I’ve not tried, but might work is - packing sound absorbing stuff around your speaker (something like a dry washcloth perhaps)… Alt: Not ideal, but I’d try moving the exciter to the top or back of the helmet. Are you doing Mando, Vader or something else? Alternatively you could remote your exciter under your body armor…although I’d opt for a thin exciter for that

I don’t see why a wireless mic would be an issue.

@@creative-stuffIm doing Mando and should be getting my armor and helmet in a couple of months so im playing around with an old skydiving helmet. Feedback is crazy. I have a small exciter and have gutted two personal amps and an all in one karaoke mic. Ive tried everything including foam to try and buffer it. Ive tried putting the exciter in the back and on the top above my head but its still really bad. I dont know how you managed to do it because ive put in a pretty good amount of time n energy into figuring this out. My solution is to just do some fans in the helmet and get a wireless personal amp and mount it somewhere under cape on shoulder or behind chest armor. We’ll see. Maybe check out the i9 and incorporate that. Its cheap enough to try. Not sure if it would plug into the amp itself or if I will need to get wired headphones to plug i9 into. Thats where im at with all this. Pretty frustrating. Lol
