Just lovely!! My 5 year old just came to me and asked if I was watching Miranda, I said yes, so he came to join me as he quite enjoys your videos! (he was supposed to be in bed!!) We watched the part where you were apple picking and he asked me: "how did Miranda find the Secret Garden at Misselthwaite manor? and why are the plants so overgrown in autumn time?" He simply loves the Secret Garden book and the 1993 film so this was so cute for him to watch. Gave me a bit of a giggle 🤣

This has been just gorgeous. The clothing is beautiful, the scenery is breathtaking. From the beautiful scenery to the most perfect music accompaniment, the start of this video promises to be such a treat for me this evening. For Victober, I read a book of short stories and also a book of poetry by the Brontes. For novels, I chose Dracula and am now finishing up The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. I’m going to put the books you’ve recommended on a list for next year. I do want to read more Wilkie Collins especially. And I think it would be fascinating to read the memoir along with it. I love Emma Bridgewater and actually have you to thank for that intro! This was seriously a beautiful video Miranda! Well done! Netflix Persuasion- It is a beautiful production, and it grew on me, but Anne's best qualities are missing and replaced with a bit of sarcasm which I wish wasn't there, but otherwise, it grew on me. I really like the actor they chose for Captain Wentworth - interesting choice but yes...he grows on you too. My favorite is with Sally Hawkins although that long kiss at the end always makes smile a little at how stretched out it is. Nevertheless, I love Sally Hawkins as Anne. I've seen it a million times. I've only watched your favorite once but will rewatch it now. Love, love, love that green dress on you!!!!

The new persuasion- I like the old one too. I found that if I didn't look at this one thinking of the book, or the old one, and just tried to have very low expectations, I found things to appreciate about it. Also, I loved your outfits. I am sorry that at this point in time, the company is only doing a narrow range of traditional sizes. (even if they charge a bit more based on yardage.) I note many of the small, thoughtful, socially conscious companies are aiming to fit and model a wider range of sizes. Hopefully, as they grow as a company this will be part of their vision.

What a wonderful time of year for an apple cake! My own favorite recipe is from a vintage 1966 booklet. The 1995 "Persuasion" film simply cannot be beat. I found the new Netflix version... entertaining... but I went into it by knowing it wasn't going to be a good Jane Austen flick. I approached it ready to accept it for what it is... a modernized Regency-inspired movie loosely based on Persuasion. I've long wanted to take a chance and order something from Simply Retro, thanks for the reviews of your items. BTW, I love the green jumper with white trim that you are wearing in the beginning of this video, where did that come from? Thank you for the peek into your lovely home, the period details are gorgeous. I do hope that one day you will give us a tour!

Thank you Miranda for the lovely videos and amazing book recommendations, I always end up buying some of the books you share, and longing for even more. I must admit that I have watched the new Netflix Persuasion film and I didn’t like it at all. If you are brave enough you of course can try it your self but for me it was more a 21th century film in 19th century clothing and scenery. I really don’t like making bad reviews because of my deep respect for other people’s job and of course I am not an expert my self at all, but I really didn’t like it. I love to immerse my self in the pages of the book instead; that I must admit I am Reading in Spanish because I didn’t want to miss anything important due to any misunderstanding though I will read it in English as soon as I am finished with the Spanish edition .
