Fixed one doing this a month ago the Drum speed sensor was going bad on it replaced it and not a single issue since . Glad to see it didnt hurt it ive seen it shear the shafts and tear some stuff up before

Thats crazy. Our green bandit that we use for our videos just went into repairs for the auto feed. How ever mine would stop feeding on smaller branches kinda like if it was struggling. Usually it would only stop on bigger logs etc. Hopefully its something simple an not to pricey.

I was watching waiting to see the belts smoke. Glad they didn't!! Must have had them thumb kind of tight!!

My friend I worked with doing trees always had one of us standing next to the chipper so if that happened we could hit the bar to neutral or reverse it if that happened. Now his was a older Vermeer and we were hand feeding not with a machine.

That recovery time impresses me every time I see your chipper chip. Possibly a loose ground?

Really wet leaves can plug the chute on manual feed units and it looked like a lot of leaves but I don't think it would be the problem

Chippers have come a long way since the beginning, I know a guy that has an old ancient asplundh tree company chipper and there is no safety features at all, once you engage it that baby is yanking wood through at 50 mph lol. Have killed many people I've heard too

That was the recurring problem with the Vermeer I had. They replaced some kind of sensor and some kind of CPU unit several times and the last time they wouldn't warranty it and it cost me a couple grand. That's when I decided to get rid of it. It was a constant electronics problem and tree work is feast or famine here depending on weather, hard to own a new chipper like that when there are no storms... I had a monster Morbark on tandem axle years ago when I did a lot of custom grading and air quality was really coming down on burning debris. I think it was a 27 incher. It would eat entire 24 inch white oaks like nothing and it never gave a minute of trouble. It was a beast to move though. At the time I had a new 2006 3500 ram 5.9 cummins straight drive and it would barely move it on the road and when you got off road on soft ground I had a CX160 Case trackhoe that would barely handle it. Almost always had to pull it with a dozer. But that Morbark was a tough and simple machine.

Tim I used to run 18x woodsman chippers.never trust the auto feed on them. If you don't sit there and babysit it. It's going to stall and clog up. Pain in the ass.

I worked for our local utility company. 54 years ago working on the tree crews, our chipper did not have auto feed. You pushed the limbs into the chipper and ran to keep from getting hit by the limbs coming behind you. You talk about hurting when you were unlucky enough to be smacked by one.

That is just an impressive machine... and it's not even a diesel.

Your goin to have to charge more for chipping services as gasoline prices rise. You may have got a load of stale fuel for your chipper.

What kind of wood was it Tim? We have a small Vemeer and it dose pretty good with most stuff but, tends to not wanna feed with some of your stringy pulp wood.

That machine should have you inserting those Howard Leight Max ear plugs deeply and wearing high end muffs over them. The NRR numbers would only go up what you think is a small amount, but dB being log10 scale, a little is a whole big lot.

Do you have the safety pull wires on yours? And if so do they ever get ripped out or in the way?
