It is lovely! However, the art and mirror are a bit too low on the wall. Unless you plan to hang something above. Just a pro tip. You want to take advantage of your vertical height in your sweet little kitchen.

Love your videos and the generosity of the lovely people who donated a countertop to you and Matt. Yes, mirrors do tend to make a space look bigger. I would raise it up on the wall to draw your eye upwards. I’m sure that if you continue looking you will find a picture that is just perfect on the wall at the end of the peninsula. 16:25 the👌🏻choice of that beautiful blue & fresh looking painting, you picked to hang above your counter. The type of mill depicted: reminded me straight away of the famous "Golden Century" painting 'Mill near the city of Wijk bij Duurstede' (here in The Netherlands), painted by the 🇳🇱Dutch Master Jacob Isaacksz van Ruisdael, back in 1670. Which now is part of the Nat. collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It will perfectly match any blue porcelain you'll choose to decorate your kitchen with. 👍🏻

I have been in several English kitchens, old and new. They often have quirky spaces and cupboard. Your lone closet on the wall would not be unusual in an English country kithen. Painting it to blend in with the wall is a good way to go. It looks great. How wonderful you were given the beautiful countertop!

Miss Rachel, the new additions are so lovely! I love the tongue and groove wall. May I suggest removing the door molding and making new doors for the skinny cabinet out of the tongue and groove? It would almost disappear into the wall and allow the mirror and artwork to shine. To my eye, the cabinet is more of a feature than I think you want. I also have to agree with others- the mirror and art work seem hung a little low, but if it were my kitchen, I'd hang blue and white plates over them to elevate the whole arrangement. I love your channel and the sweet, sweet way you have of expressing yourself. You are delightful!

Miss Rachel, Your kitchen has evolved beautifully. If I may, I have a suggestion. Since you spent so much time designing the island counter top, with a rounded furniture edge; and the sink has the same soft edge. I would round the corner of your butcher block. Ah, yes, hind-sight is 20/20. That is exactly what I would've done if I'd thought of it sooner. But for now, especially since we've been working on the kitchen since August 2022, we're both ready to tie things up in the kitchen. Good call!

Love this! That mirror is gorgeous! Your kitchen could be featured in a magazine. If the art over the island is just a place holder, consider open shelves in the same wood as the mirror. I can see small moody art and blue and white accessories and cookbooks on them. But the art works well too.

That countertop is fabulous! I love the tongue and groove on the wall and I’m hoping it will be continued into the dining room to bring a feeling of cohesion to the room. Thank you Cinder! We really like the depth the tongue-and-groove added to the kitchen. Since we've wallpapered the dining room and there is already paneling on the wainscotting we'll leave that as is. But I do see us using the tongue-and-groove in several other places in our home. Hi Rachel, The kitchen is coming together beautifully. 08 I agree with one of your viewers, the mirror is hung too low. The artwork and the mirror both need to be raised. Crown molding on the ceiling similar to the framing of the narrow cabinet would tie in the millwork well. Great job so far!!

What a beautiful kitchen!! You are such a great inspiration to create beautiful homes with what we have. Thank you! Congratulations on your quartz counter top. It’s so luxurious. Castle rock did a great job. The shape of the edges is gorgeous. We love clocks. Your built in wall cabinet reminds me of the shape an old english “grandmother” clock . If you ever want to play with the idea - consider decorating the cabinet to look like a kitchen grandmother clock. Add an antique looking working clock face attached to the upper cabinet door face. Hobby Lobby sells clock kits to attach directly on the cabinet face. Matt could create a mini sized wood trim piece identical in shape to your new quartz backsplash to crown the top of the cabinet. A pretty tassel on the lower knob would give it the effect of looking like an old clock & keep your closet fully functional. Just an idea I wanted to share.

I clarified my comment. The built in cabinet has the shape of the old grandmother clock. Matt is so skilled and you are so creative. Together you two could create an amazing transformation to create a faux grandmother clock. Your mirror is stunning just the way it is.

With each new video, this kitchen design gets better and better! The tongue and groove was a great idea! It took that wall to a completely different level! So cottagey! It looks fantastic and honestly, I don’t know if I would ever have thought to add a big mirror like the one you bought. It’s a great looking mirror but I would have thought of it more as a living room, bedroom or hallway mirror. I was so wrong! Funny thing is I can’t imagine anything more perfect for the space! I love it! Both the mirror and painting add a richness and elegance to the space that I think truly gave it the English cottage look. Your gorgeous countertop and backsplash are the cherry on top! Wow! What an incredibly kind gesture! So generous! What a blessing! In my opinion, that upgraded and solidified the entire look of the room. It took it from lovely to phenomenal! Honestly Rachel, I’ve never enjoyed a video series as much as I have enjoyed your kitchen series! It’s been so much fun! 💗💗💗

Good morning, I was delighted to see your video on my feed this morning. The wall and the counter top are just gorgeous. You are so talented what a great eye you have for decorating. I love the way you solved the cabinet problem. God was so good to you giving you the desire of your heart for the island counter top. The mirror is a thumbs up the placement is perfect. I don't think the content of the art work is very kitchen looking. I think an old fashioned plate rack might look nicer or a picture with kitchen looking content. Just a thought. I had a designer neighbor one time that did a wall of mirrors with all different frames but they had all the same finish like gold. It was beautiful! That’s what I thought you were going with. I like your idea too though. Thank you!

Everything looks so beautiful and I love the stone that was chosen I don’t have good luck with Pinterest only because I love so many things and styles and I get overwhelmed. We’ve been here for 3 years now and the process has been very slow but finding the right pieces and waiting for just right the pieces to decorate our home. Of course, a strict budget is always one of our determining factors which is why I love thrifting and Estate sales. I look forward to seeing your next video. 😊

What a beautiful kitchen! I think a few blue and white plates would look so pretty above the mirror and if raised up,the picture could have some blue and white Dutch items so bring the color to that side and tie it all together. Can’t wait to see what you do next time.

Wow what a blessing 🙏Rachel the stone countertop and back splash is stunning!! I love the edging. I am not a fan of the modern stone or marble type counter tops, but I now realise it's the squared off edges which I find harsh and ugly. I didn't realise you can cut those beautiful curved edges into it. What a difference it makes!! Also the mirror has the same curved edges at the top. I loved the fruit oil painting best. Perfect for the kitchen. There's only one thing I'd add, and it's the Laura Ashley wallpaper from your living area to above the cupboards where window is. Just across that tiny space at the very top. I think it would be tricky to do, but your husband is very skilled. Just a thought. God Bless that business for blessing you. I love how God works 💐🙏💖

Love the quartz counter! What a beauty. The bead board really did add the right texture to make the cabinet doors look more intentional. You are so clever. But I'll be honest, I'm stumped on curtains for my living room, so I can't wait to hear what advice you have for that in a future video. There really isn't much info on KZfaq about livinroom curtains in the English country style.

I’d have hung the mirror on the wall over the backsplash; a narrow in the wider space. And I’d move the art to where the mirror was, with possibly a few small framed pieces near it. Something about the way it is now just doesn’t feel right to me. 🤔 Just my opinion.

Loving the finishing touches! What an offer you all received! It's coming along beautifully...in my small opinion, I would hang the mirror to where the bottom of the frame aligns with the butcher block counter. I agree with lmjo2980, if you raise the picture up to center, whatever you decide to place near the backsplash won't hinder the view. Possibly an African Violet...🥰

The new island countertop and backsplash are superb!!! Also, the tongue and groove wall is a beautiful touch. I would consider centering the artwork over the peninsula...I like to try things several ways :)

Good morning! We did consider centering the art over the peninsula, but it would've left an unbalanced gap to the right of the art that would've needed something to not look off.Instead, we've centered the art on the wall and I have another layer of decor panned for the next episode... stay tuned!
