Thanks for spotlighting so many wonderful paintings from the Terra Foundation Collection. I was unaware of it’s existence until I just saw your discussion of Metcalf’s Cuban painting. This Colman painting is wonderful. Being dockside with all the workers on the pier as well as on board gives it so much life compared to a typical marine painting of a vessel at sea. The history discussion was great for context.
