Thank you for sharing this -- I've been watching quail cage builds on YT for days, and when I saw this, I asked my husband what he thought. He said we couldn't build one this nice for less money and to buy it, so I did! (Just got our first quail babies last week, they're 10 days old today. I'm really enjoying taking care of them and watching them grow!)

Thank you for the review! Wish I new about these when I was still teaching. I think that this size would be just right for a classroom setup. Also would be a great size to take to training workshops. For me (a retired senior and widow) this will a perfect choice for me to use on my enclosed back porch! Thank you again. Blessings from Holland Ohio 🌻🐛

I have two of these cages that I use for breeding and I agree with you on the problems. I keep six jumbo birds in each of my cages. A rooster and 5 quail hens. I just use pieces of cardboard zip tied to the lower sides and back to prevent poop overflow and I use newspaper in the dropping tray and pull it beyond the sides to keep everything that drops on the paper. I clean mine everyday since I keep my birds indoors. Its a very sturdy cage. Yes, taller door would be great because its hard to fit any type of decent size plastic sandbox through the present door and getting birds in and out can be tricky. I have Wynola larger cages also and same problems with them too but I think for the money they are the best cages on the market. Great Review video Terry!

Thank you for your review on the cages. Do you still have them? How are the holding up? Have you been forced to make any modifications? I have two brand new Hatching Time cages. One came missing parts. The other leaks like crazy from the square end plug that is assembled at the factory and on the black hose at the connections. We made sure there was no space in the black hoses and worked to get a tight fit. To get items replaced from HT, one must take several pictures of the box, label, problems, etc. It creates more frustration and emails than necessary. I asked them how was I supposed to take a picture of a missing part? So many emails and time! Not very efficient. We gave up dealing with their customer service and are using JB water weld and hose clamps to solve the problems that came with the $826 5-layer cage. For that price, you would expect turn-key, but we are having to make daily repairs to brand new cages. When we looked to see if others have an issue with them, we learned the heavy leaking issues goes back several years and is a very, very common complaint among their customers. I've had my floors and furniture (office in quail barn) damaged, and we lost a few quail due to them running out of water.

@@mamaasbell8044 Sorry no longer have them or quail but they did work well. Never had any problems with the water hoses but having the wire bottoms did cause a lot of foot problems in my quail. I used cardboard for the backs to keep the poop from falling out the back. I've decided if you want to keep quail indoors only keep a small colony. They make a mess.

@@1safeplanet785 I have mine in a shed built just for them in the HT cages. They poop out the sides and the back of the HT cages. A YTer like yourself used aluminum signs to stop the poo from coming out the sides. I am still trying to think of what to use for the back. TY for answering me. I subscribed earlier, btw.

Please be aware to plan 3 months ahead when ordering. It's taken 5 weeks to have the cage built. Now after 2 more weeks it is still in Calfornia in a USPS shipping status. I'm in Arkansas and have no idea when it may arrive. It is a great looking cage but it will be better when I finally get it.

I have the stacked Wynola cages and I find the birds are always pooping out the side and back getting it on the floor. I don't have this problem as much with the cages I built. Also pretty hard to give them a sand bath.

I have these cages. My quail fling out a lot of feed. SO I am looking to figure out how to alter it that metal feeder. I agree about the poop trays should be a bit longer and deeper. The rollers for these are extra, alot extra. Again trying to find alternative castors.

Hi there i have seen a huge automated cage system with conveyor belts for food, eggs ,and the removal of manure which at the end had a scraper and the manure dropped into a wagon vat to be brought to a compost area ... this ranch is in Texas and has over a million birds.. the conveyor belt system i think could be used in smaller operations and hand cranking for the conveyor system but greatly would cut the the labor time to feed gathering eggs and removal of the manure making the whole operation cleaner and more efficient for the animals and farmers.. i think some of these could also be used for chickens and other animals to better and easier way to keep animal coups, hutches and livestock pens ... just think all the muck and and manure being conveyed outside the barns and pens cages to a area it can be easily removed to compost for garden fertilizer or compost and spread in grass pastures or food forrest plots. .. research it give it a chance and let me know what you think!

I should have ordered this one. The cage I ordered was 189.00 - I wish mine had the shorter legs to sit on a table instead of the longer ones that are still too low to sit on the floor for me as I have chihuahua's. Hard to fit a decent size dust tray through the door. Also I wish it had come with some type of of water container. The 7/16th drill bit cost me 13 bucks. + ya have to use that watering system cuz nothing else fits through the door and short heigth. + poop on the table I do have it on. Otherwise I love it. I should have got the 99 dollar one. 189 is almost 200 bucks! Tobias Eloy AZ

Can you do a review of cimuka brand ? It’s a bit expensive and only one company in turkey makes it. Is very nice and I will be getting the double layered. Six cage setup. A company in Delaware sells them on eBay and shipping is 100 or so dollars less is all heavy plastic. Anyway I realize American company need the business also. I would still build my own cages, mainly because I am able to. But, the commercial cages are great for those who can’t build or just want to save time. I am partial to the wire cages due to the flooring which has the larger wire which helps prevent manure build up.

I do like the all wire cage vs. the plastic - the home made ones require wood which has to be sealed with something; also the wood can harbor pests. The wire may be a bit more costly at the beginning but in the long run I think they will pay for themselves. As my quail numbers increase I will continue to buy the Winola cage even if it has a few flaws. Hugs Tobias Ralph W Brown Eloy AZ

@@junitalkrue9407 If you rent and space is limited the Winola cage is perfect. However, I was gonna put the quail in my greenhouse. But as the greenhouse is now, the neighborhood cats would sit on top of the cage and as the quail stuck their heads out to eat so also would the cat eat the quails little heads. So if I want to move 'em out their I'd need a totally different set up. Also afraid of attracting rodents of which now I have none. knock on wood. Tobias Ralph W Brown Eloy AZ
