Fill the bucket with water and then dump it into the pitcher and mark the pitcher so you know how far to fill the pitcher every time.

Thanks. This helped me decide to purchase the WR. I have a two tier Hatchingtime, . It Ok but I think this is easier to see the quail and to work with.

Thank you for your review on the cages. Do you still have them? How are the holding up? Have you been forced to make any modifications? Has the water system leaked? I have two brand new 5 layer Hatching Time quail cages. I really regret going with them. One came missing parts. The other leaks like crazy from the square end plug that is assembled at the factory and on the black hose at the connections. We made sure there was no space in the black hoses and worked to get a tight fit. To get items replaced from HT, one must take several pictures of the box, label, problems, etc. It creates more frustration and emails than necessary. I asked them how was I supposed to take a picture of a missing part? So many emails and time! Not very efficient. We gave up dealing with their customer service and are using JB water weld and hose clamps to solve the problems that came with the $826 5-layer cage. For that price, you would expect turn-key, but we are having to make daily repairs to brand new cages. When we looked to see if others have an issue with them, we learned the heavy leaking issues goes back several years and is a very, very common complaint among their customers. I've had my floors and furniture (office in quail barn) damaged, and we lost a few quail due to them running out of water. The first cage we put together was very difficult as the holes did not line up easily and there was a lot of flashing (excess plastic) on the plastic in the holes. The second one was not as hard as the first because the holes lined up better on MOST of the pieces. There was still some flashing we had to cut out with a sharp knife. I also like that you can keep the Wynola Ranch cages inside or out. I'd prefer to have mine outside.

The cage did great! Got messy real fast. Had to clean it like 2-3 times a week. The water system worked great other than stinking for whatever reason. We could not figure out why. We did end up eating all of them. They were bringing in more snakes than all my other animals together. Almost everyday there was a snake in the cage and got stuck killing all the birds in there. Then they would be nice to each other one day and the next everyone was scalped. I love the meat and eggs but they are way more trouble than they are worth.

12 jumbo hens and 2 roos work out good. I wouldnt try to squeeze more then that unless growing out and butchering at 8wks or so. The cage is nice. Like you guys i took a piece of 1/2x1/2 to block the egg roll out so they couldnt get out when we transitions 4wks out to the cage for growing out. We use totes inside before that the first 2 weeks i do pine shavings too. Then i move them to a longer tote and did a floating 1/2x1/2 hardware cloth (pvc coated) floor and pine shavings under it. Its works out nice as a transition from shavings to that and then they seem to not notice when they were feathered out and went out to the cage for grow out (our rotating system with new hatches etc for meat we send grow outs out at 4wks).

I don’t remember the exact price but I do know it was more then $600 but less then $1000. My husband customized the cage but I think they sell this specific cage now.

well, we stopped raising the Quail. They kept bringing snakes. They were the only animal on the farm that brought any predator.

Awesome set up and review! I’m leaning on a setup like this for my endeavor? Just two things I would do is add a small toilet float to the bucket with constant water feed. And place some side shields under the cages on 3 sides deflecting all the poop into the poop trays

That’s awesome! Great ideas! I’ll have to let my husband know! He is looking to something to help. He has been thinking on the side Shields but has not done it yet.. 😂

I have changed my mind about the waterers, I have to clean them out once a week because they are smelly, i would go with different water bowls.

Have you ever had a problem with rats getting under the cages via the poop trays and attacking your quail?

@@triplehfarmncif you take a piece of 1/2x1/2 or 1/4x1/4 under the trays it helps to eliminate the snakes. Knock on wood havent had an issue, i did it from day one on spots i was worried mink or snake could get in if we got a random one. As at our house im the one that has to take care of snakes the hubby goes running lol
