I brought back Slay the Spire to the stream this week for a little shot of nostalgia. Looks like I haven't lost a step...but I'm not sure I gained one either. Check it out!

NL doing the 600 IQ plays to have intangibility on the perfect turn against the Act 1 Elite and then he just smokes it before it can even attack on the intangibility turn

@@alienrenders so he could have survived the last turn, he had enough energy to play protect, let alone divinity. The only thing that stopped him from surviving that turn was the choker.

57:00 i may be wrong but if he used the scry before the draw and scried out all of the non-block cards and then played all his block cards with the bonus vigilance that he would've gotten then he would've survived that turn with exactly 1 hp

He only had 2 cards in the deck to scry through, but it would've improved the situation still.

Would not work because if he scried before shuffling he would've seen only 2 cards, dumping both and drawing i believe would've given him vigilance, trip and conjure blade. Not enough block by 2 yet

he couldve scried through kept the defend and discarded void, he would drawn defend, trip, and vigilance, with third eye defend and vigilance he would have 25 block, with no other block cards he would just barely die, tungsten rod only reduces unblocked damage by 1, so first hit is 14, 11 block, second hit is 14 minus 1 so hes on 13 health, last hit barely lethal, no way out of it, only way out was a luck dead branch block

43:12 on that enemy it is best to stay in Wrath because it reduces his strength by the amount you hit for. His strength is doubled to get the amount he hits for. I.e. if he has 60 strength he hits for 120. You need to do only 60 damage to make him do 0 damage.

Damn what an incredibly well played run. But that last turn may be proof of concept why you don't take Velvet Choker on Watcher. Imo between miracles, cards that require other cards to be played first, calm and divinity giving more energy, stance swapping, retain, etc, Watcher just plays too many cards to be limited to 6/turn

Its tough to say if it was the wrong call here, i cant remember what the other boss relics were and I'm too lazy to check, but i think having that extra energy was what got him to the final fight in the first place. For the record though i agree its the biggest handicap for the watcher compared to the other characters, this may have just been a cursed run..

@@oodlesofnoodles23 Black star probably would have been the better play with how many elites he was able to smoke with good incense burner plays, but its hard to tell since the every turn would have played different without it. 5 or 6 more elite relics is almost definitely better than velvet choker but would he have been able to get them without it? Probably but maybe not

So close. Awesome play NL. So much to keep track off, the intangibility counter, the choker, the devotion at the end. I would've been overwhelmed. Good run. The good think about losing is that we can look forward to another run like this.

@@hariman7727 he could go for ascension 0 heart kills, daily’s like he was doing before etc. He doesn’t necessarily just stop when he does this. Even 2/3 of the modded characters are pretty interesting and worth trying out

I came back to slay the spire since I started watching your videos. I'm finishing the Ascension climbs for the defect and The watcher. My defect is at Ascension 17, and The watcher is at Ascension 6 or 7. It's amazing how much the difficulty spikes with each Ascension level after 14.

Absolutely cracked run, but one piece of advice-when fighting the transient, keep in mind that the impact of strength lost is doubled while you're in wrath. Obviously it's still risky if you're in a situation where you need to block, but if you're attacking staying in wrath stance the whole battle is a very powerful strategy.

Great vid, and next level playing around incense burner Stealing relic play was dubious, you saved 10 gold, but didnt get a card remove, and made the next card remove 25 more expensive.

Hey NL, great run. I'd love to see some low ascension heart runs once you've beaten A20 with the watcher. I wont ask for A20 heart since that's the realm of the gods alone
