Bought one in 2012 or so and spent a fortune building it to actually be durable.. even went with extended frame rails for stability. It's just a monster on 6s, tears itself apart!

When I saw the duration of the video, I was like Vas never has a 4 minute video. Then I read the title. Not too bad but frustrating. I like the fixes they did with this version, HPI just needs to go a little bit further.

Great video, frustrating and disappointing you had to break it off. But looking forward to the upgraded run . Hopefully we can see the full potential of this truck 👍

Lol, I mentioned in your 4S video comments that the stock tires would explode/unglue on 6S and it happened. Also, I had to crank my slipper ALL the way on 6S or it would slip way too much even with just slightly backing off the slipper. The links popping out is a 20yr old problem (yes, it should be fixed by now dammit) that is easliy solved with the addition of a washer on the top of the link. The stock internal diff gears will most likey go Crunch~N~Munch on 6S so a China hardened set will do the trick. Still an awesome truck and I truly think the Hobao MT 2 Plus has a better stock driveline but the parts support on the HPI trumps the MT 2 Plus due to it having support both from HPI and China manufacturers.

Those links are abblative armor so you dont break anything else. I have the older version, the GTXL-1. Really love the crazy thing though. I do notice the newer one has a bottom plate, making it a bit more mud-resistant. Good fun though!

HPI used to be at the top of their game with durability and most of their kits used to be Made in Japan at one point. Then compromises started happening and they shifted to Taiwan (Still ok, although not acceptable to me). Apparently, under the third ownership they've shifted the production further to China! Now that's downright cheap and it shows clearly in all their current kits. The cheap feeling plastics, anodizing and even the durability sucks for what it is. But on the other hand, their prices are higher than the competition for some reason. It would be really stupid to buy a Chinese made low quality truck with durability issues and lack of parts support right now. Yes, if they decide to produce their kits in Europe and Japan at this price with better quality, I'm game!

Hey Vas, I think you should do more vids with this truck. A few fixes and they are a beast!

I have the original Vorza Flux Buggy which I take to the park for open area runs. Not too much jumps. Kind similar environment to many of your videos. Always wished the buggy rode a bit higher for running in the grass. Does the new flux truggy solve that problem or would i have to go all in with the Savage? My concern with the savage is the high centre of gravity so I dont want it popping wheelies all the time

How would you say HPI have done with the release of the new savage, vorza and savage XL. Do you think the execs sit around a table patting each other of the back for a job well done.

The old XL used to be pretty bullet proof, shame this one looks like a budget priced option… at a high price…

Had mine for two months heap of garbage .. blew the front tires out on the first run . Had to change the servo as the original servo wouldn’t even turn it .. still got my original HPI savage XL nitro .. awesome truck .. don’t waste your money on this one ☝️.. buy a XRP .. and even in this run he had the same problem ..

Starting to think that the Vorza S Truggy Flux is an overall better truck than the Savage X/XL Flux?

How are the tires. I hear they are heavy

I’d have put a different Servo in there before even putting 6s in it. Less likely to crash it.

Dboots backflip 6s wheels and tyre softer than the jetko

As I see, the Forza S is much more reliable and handles much better than Savage XL. Thanks for your reviews

G'day mate lol I hope I don't set the internet on fire for saying this. But when I worked at the hobby shop I made up a Nick name for HPI hastily produced inbreds but in saying that once you pull it to pieces and rebuild grease everything lock tight everything they are a bloody Savage lol 👍👍

Disappointing but not surprising. This is the same truck that they've been selling for the last 15 years and it has the same problems.

To much money to have so many problems out of the box. Changinh servos and fixing links. I have spent far less on faster 1/8 scale rcs and had less problems. I had such a good experience with my old nitro savage years ago.

I would never hpi again over £650 for this truck and you get plastic shocks and links for that price 😡😡😡

very dissapointing Vas when you pay this sort of money for these things. Ive been rebuilding my diffs on my savage xs flux over these last few days and adjusting the servo. But I think its time to pull the pin soon and order a new body and gears for 3s as well as a new HV waterproof servo and 3s lipo. Watch this space

I'm still not sure why HPI lately designs such beautiful and capable cars like that and then assembles them using toothpicks. So there is no way to enjoy it at full power, which is disappointing. I hope to see the XL in action again, kicking up dust and flying high soon. Cheers mate!

What a shame to see hpi making poor quality rc, the vorza buggy is one of my favourite cars to drive

It doesn’t really look like enough power to me, I also think a truck this size needs lower KV to keep temps down while gearing up.
