My Flux v2 is the most durable truck in my collection and it killed some other trucks with crashes. BUT it was assembled so badly. I thought this was the first RC ever that was build by the chinese kid in the factory. I now installed the centre diff and so it is bulletproof.
@geodude39662 жыл бұрын
You summarized it well. The Savage X Flux is great for enthusiasts who already have four or five 1/8th trucks and are looking to collect another one and don't mind the price tag. But for the other 90% of RC bashers, we can't justify buying the most expensive 1/8th truck with such low durability. If the price was $200 cheaper or the truck was way more durable it'd be justified. But it's not, you really aren't getting what you pay for.

That's Hpi for ya! I owned the Wr8 Ken Block enduro car and it was one of the best handling RC's I've ever owned but I would destroy the tires in a few runs and they were Beyond overpriced and hard-to-find so I got rid of it.
@Conceivedintheeyeofasecret2 жыл бұрын
What HPI are charging for the quality they are putting out is atrocious. Clearly they are not the company they once were and in my opinion have no business making RC. Blatant disrespect for their customers.

Iv never used the Savage X Flux before but I did have a old school savage 4.6 nitro and for the time compared to others this was a very durable truck. I could back flip it and if I whip out im still driveing lol. I only broke like a arm or dog bone I think I was happy with it. Now I want a arrma talion exb 6s what do you think the most durable 1/8th truggy RTR you can buy ? I think the Talion would be druable and kraton please share ! thanks bud

@@Conceivedintheeyeofasecret Ya back in the day they were great. I loved mine and I only ever broke tiny cheap parts and usually always my fault lol I agree with you they seem to not be what they once were. Price up way more high and like dean connectors and no aluminium shocks and just the basic better stuff you would get at that price other companys over higher quality gear. I still have faith in them they switch owners to many times and I hope they still make RC but they have to up there game and qaulity for me to get another one

I did buy one, but I got it for this reason. I was getting tired of the “truggy” style monster truck or truggy. I wanted something different. Honestly it’s been a good truck I don’t heavy bash and it’s held up. It’s a little hard to work on but you won’t bend that chassis very easily!

Great well thought out video! I think this is the same mistake losi made with the 3xle, they over priced it for what it was. Then when the price went down and people actually bought it, they loved it. I don't know who this is for exactly? because if it's for the masses, they priced themselves out. if it's for the hardcore savage fan, there's not enough new there to replace the old one. As much as it hurts to say this with current rc prices, 600-620 is what I would be willing to pay. (A year ago it would be 530)

I’m happy they finally updated the transmission to accept a center differential option. The diff bulkheads however I’m disappointed they didn’t beef them up by altering the design a bit. The hing pin braces are the same old flimsy ones which they really should have changed up in the worst way. Overall, happy to see HPI back producing the legendary Savage, but it’s time for a complete redo to compete with today’s trucks. What we can really use is a 1/6 Savage and they can name it the Super Savage or something.

The savage in the nitro side is the most durable rc truck. That is why is my favorite!
@zelph18442 жыл бұрын
As a previous owner of the original Savage Flux, I'm disappointed to see it still has many of the original issues - thin shock shafts that bend easily, upper shock screws as well, still has those annoying rear toe-in links that definitely break easily (Integy used to make an aluminum toe-link eliminator that was a mandatory upgrade), and those diffs are not sealed - if you put silicone oil in, it will leak out, they are designed to be grease only. Biggest letdown is the electronics. The original Flux came with Castle Creations Monster system, and the truck could do rolling and standing backflips, not many trucks could do that. And where's the wheelie bar? The original came with one, could do wheelies as far as you had room for.
@AsurasWrath1642 жыл бұрын
The motor and esc are good enough. It's the hobbywing quicrun system that all arrmas ran with. And the new Spektrum firma is also basically a rebranded quicrun in a different housing. Agree on all the other points though.

I agree completely with this video, and Ive come up with a good conclusion for it: Not worth it. When I first saw the teaser that HPI was finally coming back I was super stoked, and then I saw the price and just kinda stopped and went "what the hell?" Maybe they are trying to make some cash off the nostalgia from the old days when the original Savage Flux HP was the king of the bashing community over a decade ago. Maybe they don't have a choice. HPI hasn't changed ownership so many times for just no reason, they have been bankrupt more times than I can count and this might be one final desperate attempt to get back into the game. Its honestly tragic to watch such a great company go through such hardship but until the price comes down a significant amount, the answer is no, I wouldn't buy it. If it ever matches the price of the Traxxas E-Revo 2.0 ($650USD), then maybe, and if it matches the price of the Arrma Kraton 6S V5 ($600USD), then I would probably pick one up, but at about the $770 it is now, not a chance, especially with plastic shocks, just an absolute ripoff. HPI thinks they can just suck money out of nostalgic fanboys and they are going to find out the hard way that such a strategy is NOT how you do good business.

Anyone who is a true rc enthusiast would just appreciate the fact that the savage is back. People are complaining that it's so expensive and that this and that is better but Imo that's all in the driver with exception yes there are some rc's that are just absolutely junk the savage is not one of those and never has been. Just think 🤔 for a minute the savage has barely changed in over 20 years but yet still is very durable any rc I've ever driven especially ones with this kind of weight and power things will break. With basic knowledge of how to prepare a rc before ever taking out for the first drive and not intentionally jumping it 20 feet in the air without any intentions of trying to land the jump then yes it will break. Lastly the savage is easily the most realistic monster truck in the basher lineup in the market.

I have always been astonished at how expensive the electric is as I just don't see it like you said, honestly in any of them.... it's not like they come with 6s batteries. On the nitro end it's a straight up no brainer. The nitro actually benefits a lot from the HD electric drive line now. But yes agree hpi needs something for the mass market.... or to find a way tho get the price down. Or something fresh. Gotta give it props though it's like the great grandad of all modern bashers. Screws, shock shafts no biggie those are in the dollars diffs though hmm that's a bummer. Was it just the spider gears?

In the Maxx video you mentioned that it would benefit it if you could move the rear shocks in front of the upper arm. On this it seems you have that option, why haven't you done it?
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
2 reasons: The weight bias doesn't seem as backwards as the Maxx. Also, I think moving the shocks to the front would twist the arms a lot when landing on the rear corners of the truck without the shocks there to resist the impact.
