This bench top drill press table has no mechanism to raise and lower it. If you loosen the clamp, the table will fall if youre not holding it in place. I decided to add a counter balance system to keep the table at its current position until you tighten the clamp. I created a small snatch block that attaches to the back of the table clamp. A fixed pulley mounted under the belt cover gives this system a 2:1 mechanical advantage which is needed to counterbalance the 4 pound table with a 2 pound weight that can fit inside the column.
