Just some notes about using the new editor. - DON'T build using blocks like in S1. With the way VIS works now, it will consider front faces to be 'inside' of the map. So make sure that only the inside of your map contains solid faces. - And while it's true that leaks aren't necessarily an issue anymore, you should still seal the map in order for VIS to be efficient.

just a tip, you no longer need to use 6 brushes to make a room, you can just make a cube and invert the normals with "f", this also eliminates the need to apply the nodraw texture as the outer face will automatically not have a texture.

Note on the RT card thing. You simply cannot use the editor without one at all. I have a GTX1080 and cant compile maps at all

One of my friends is porting the multiplayer maps from Metroid Prime 2 Echoes to CS2. Don't know if he'll release it or if it's just a personal thing he's doing to mess around with it.

Imagine future FPS titles from Valve with this engine.. Maybe a third entry in a particular series?

I attempted to make a map in the new Hammer but then I realised I only spent like an hour messing around with Hammer for Half-Life 2 so I had no idea what I was doing and putting the generic entity thing in a box did not work. It probably would have helped if I knew how to change the entity to different ones. But, hey, it is pretty useful for modders and people who actually know what they are doing.

Water you can dive into. I would like to see how that's handled, and if they worked as much on the underwater experience as they did on the surface of it. Also, the thing you noticed about your feet getting wet - really cool - but does your whole body get wet if you've been fully submerged? And if you've been in water to let's say just above the knees, does the wetness border reflect that? Maybe you could make a nice water map to test it out, which might also make for some interesting matches...

It definitely took me a few days to get used to the new potential. In the beginning, I still created brush-like blocks for geometry. Then I noticed I can just create my room as one Block and invert the faces, making it a full room with the walls and ceiling/ground connected. This way, you can add loop cuts, bevels etc to model out a full room even faster with much MUCH cleaner topology.

I love source 2 hammer but it really sucks that you need a rtx gpu to full compile maps, so many people who want to get into mapping are just left in the dust since the majority of people don't have a good enough gpu. Really confused why it isn't just an optional feature, since previous versions of s2 hammer let you compile without it.

new hammer is too different for me, I'm not sure I can learn it tbh
