Condition Zero and the classic 1.6 are my favorites, CZ had an excellent bot support and 1.6 is very nostalgic to me, i've been playing CS since 2002... It's my favorite PC Game ever! Thanks for sharing your video.

Its sad because its vastly superior to 1.6 and should replace it as ultimate GoldSource Counterstrike. Lets not forget 1.6 owed several weapons and tactical shield to Condition Zero when gearbox wanted to keep parity.

While I did play the Dust 2 and Aztec maps a decent amount, the bread and butter of CSCZ for me was actually the jailbreak servers. I spent hundreds of hours acting out the role of a prisoner playing the twisted games the guards would come up with, and I loved it lmao. Also, it was incredibly entertaining when the guards were sometimes slow to check the few escape routes, letting you pull off sneaky shenanigans that would make them paranoid about where you and your fellow escapees were.

CZ is the only CS game I've played all my life and I love it because of the various missions and the way it let's us chose the maps and unlocks more as we 'Secure' maps. I never understood the craze for 1.6, Source and GO. They don't have missions either. Just yesterday, I tried playing Source for the first time ever in life and although the graphics are much better, they ruined the maps like Prodigy. It looks more like a sand castle in Source rather than the serious looking battle ground in a factory of something of the CZ.

I had CZ bundled with 1.6 in Counter-Strike 1 Anthology, always considered it as CS "single player edition". I actually thought that condition zero just meant that it's Counter Strike that you could play with 0 other players.

I actually love this game. I understand why it was hated back in the day. But I bought cs and cscz in 2017 for like 4 dollars and love cz for the bots. (I love fps bots idk why)

I liked CZ though non of my friends picked it up, i kept playing 1.6 with them but would play a bit of CZ by myself for fun, i really like linear FPS campaigns so Deleted Scenes was really cool for me, like a high quality Half Life total conversion. Even if it came out on time it would have had a tepid reception purely due to looking dated, and its 2004 release date was literally a few months before Half Life 2 and CS: Source, its troubled development was well known at the time so no one was really inspired to pay to move away from 1.6 to this potentially janky and less popular weird entry. Interesting idea, if in the future Valve shuts down the server browser for these old games you can still play CZ against the included bots :D, which leads me to my fun fact of the day: A man named Markus Klinge created a bot add on for 1.6 called PODBot, with the goal of creating bots that felt like you were playing against real players, Gearbox would recruit Klinge to create the bots used in Condition Zero, so they're really cool to play against.

I'm 100% sure the reason why Valve pushed out CS"2" as a forced update to CSGO and made everyone upgrade was because they know what happened with Condition Zero. It's unbelievable just how long Valve has been doing the same things, for newer generations. CS2 was merely a visuals upgrade. A measly update that wouldn't be enough for its millions of players willingly switching over globally, just like how they kept playing 1.6 when Condition Zero was released.

Of course its still playable. And its extremely fun.

I think it wasn't as popular because it's basically a copy of 1.6 under the hood. You can play the condition zero maps in 1.6 and you can have the condition zero models as well in 1.6, the only new thing condition zero offered was bot support but 1.6 already had third party bots and tutorials on how to enable bots in the 1.6 dll. While I think CZ is cool, to most people it's probably no different than a gamebanana skin pack that you're being charged for.

Condition Zero was originally supposed to be 1.7, but I think it became standalone due to development issues/disagreements.

I've played the campaign of CS CZ, it's boring as heck. :P I'm interested in hearing your thoughts of CS Source. I personality enjoyed it back in the day because of the prop physics in the game. I understand some CS players hate it because they could get caught in the geometry of the props which added to the randomness, but I liked it because in certain maps (and modded maps) it can be used as a dynamic cover system.

I think a big issue is people definitely thought or assumed it was just a single-player version of CS. I didn't even realize it had a separate multiplayer until this video.

CZ is the shit! Used to play this all the time back in the day. IDK why it wasn't popular or gained much traction, perhaps because 1.6 was a free mod for Half-Life and Valve was trying to charge for CZ? Not sure.
