My friend died recently after being hit by a car suddenly, I was one of the last to speak to him, to soothe him. He was an incredible and kind soul who learned from his mistakes and did right by the people he loved. He sent me this song a while back and I kind of glazed over it. It was one of 3 songs he ever shared with me. I gave it a good listen after learning he had passed. I have never screamed so loudly, with such pain and anger. You have no idea how much I miss you. Although I suffer myself I used to think hey Adam, you're from California where the sun always shines! But depression doesn't care if it's sunny or pissing down. These lyrics are stuff of legend and learning

I love Adam and I love Round Here and hearing what he had to say about why he wrote it just made me stop and think that maybe that's what I do. I just leave people and myself behind.

he Counting Crows version (by far the more well-known recording) is a slow and mellow, if emotional, folk rock song. The original by the Himalayans is done in a more "pure" rock style-somewhat harder and faster, with prominent electric guitar and bass parts. In a tradition that has manifested in several Counting Crows ... The original is way better.
