I've not seen any other comments that have made note about this, so I will put it here. Band-Maid is a band that shines the brightest when performing live. I'm not saying that I don't like their studio work. However, I'm of the firm opinion that their live versions always seem to be better, and more enjoyable, than the studio stuff. I do not know of another band that I can say that about. By the way, with the exception of Miku, she's the band's founder, all of the other musicians have some serious credentials. Training and Degrees from Tokyo music college. From what I've read, MISA (Bassist) and Akane (Drummer) have been friends since they were teenagers. Akane turned 30 last December. Kanami (Lead Guitarist) has a master's degree in music. She is basically the band's composer, she writes the music, and Miku (Rythm Guitar and Backing Vocals) writes the majority of the lyrics. An interesting side note: Miku did not play the guitar when the band started. During the filming of "Thrill" (the video that got the band noticed, and saved the band from breaking up), the producer handed Miku a guitar, basically as a prop. He wanted to make it clear that Saiki was the lead vocalist. So, Miku was just holding onto the guitar for show in that video. A few weeks later, Kanami started teaching Miku how to play. Saiki, she started modeling at 13, and was still doing modeling when she joined the band. She was still a teenager when she joined Band-Maid, and is the youngest member of the band. A year or two after joining the band, she had to take some time off for throat surgery.

From my understanding, all of the scheduled shows sold out in minutes. I am hoping they are able to schedule more. I am also hoping they can make an appearance on late night TV just like Baby Metal did, as that would bring a whole new audience into the fold. It is time for Japanese female rock/metal to go mainstream just like BTS did for Kpop.

According to interviews with Miku(you can find them on KZfaq),she formed the band and chose the maid outfits because she had once worked in a cafe there. Initially,there were 4 members. Miku decided her voice wasn't strong enough,and Saiki was picked during auditions to be the lead vocalist. The costumes have undergone changes over time,as Misa and Saiki did not like the maid outfits Miku had chosen. I forget the details about what they wear now. Anyway,I am glad to be a fellow Maidiac.

Even in Japan, fans are sometimes called by unpleasant names. Especially in 5channel, I'm sad because people who like other bands are swearing at each other and I like all the bands. She worked in a maid themed café, which is pretty different from working as a maid. Kanami, the lead guitarist (and main music composer) was a singer/songwriter, and never worked in a maid café.

The Japanese words for "8" and "10" sound like the word for "pigeon" (hato) when they are combined, and her assumed family name is "Kobato" (ko=small, hato=pigeon).
