Learn to laugh at your mistakes. It keeps you smiling and dancers who smile are not only enjoying the experience but a pleasure to watch.

Anthony and Rose, I have said this before but I want to say it again you two are the best dance instructors there is as far as my wife and I are concerned, we keep bragging about you to the people in our dance group and others that are not,my wife is 73 and I will be 80 in August some moves take a bit longer to catch on for us but we are persistent and determined to learn the moves. We hope you are staying safe during this crises we are in. The epidemic is not as bad here in Alberta Canada as it is in many states in the U.S. We live in the country so we don't have as much contact with people as there is in the city. We love both of you keep dancing and stay safe. Gordie and Mary

Guys... this is the sweetest thing ever. If it weren’t for the pandemic (and the distance between Texas and Alberta Canada), we’d totally be giving you a hug right now. We appreciate you so much and it makes us so happy to hear that you are using the videos and are enjoying dancing together! The world we’re living in now won’t be like this forever. Keep dancing and enjoying the extra time with each other. ❤️❤️

This is the most important workshop I've seen you guys do. So much really good information. In 11 minutes you provided a world of information! This applys to CW 2 Step, WCS, Tango and all the dances. I've been dancing CW 2 Step for almost 40 years, teaching & competing for 26 years. I absolutely loved the information review. It made me think about this: Beginners take Intermediate classes, Intermediate dancers take Advance classes and Advance dancers take Beginning classes. Get your basic solid and you'll grow like a rocket! I could go on......so much good info! For me trying to take notes, trying to capture your life comparisons, it would be helpful to have on-screen bullet points that I could write down. Thanks again for all this worldly information & keeping good Country Dancing alive! Hope to see you in So Cal someday! Cliff

Wow! Can we just get you to write all of our online reviews? lol We're so glad you enjoyed it and are so happy you're here :-) Love the analogy of dancers taking classes. That's so true! We do plan on being in So Cal this summer (assuming the virus stuff allows). We have a schedule at www.anthonyandrose.com

Thanks for this sound advice. 5.5 should be choosing the right music for the dance. A West Coast could go terribly wrong if you don't BOTH hear it.

All the time. We see so many dancers dancing a wcs on the outside of the floor while others are trying to pass through with a progressive dance

Great teaching tips and sage advice! I need to let my husband listen to this. I love the part about the different stages of dancing. I'm definitely at the mechanical stage, trying to gain more competency, so I don't have to think so much.

The mechanical stage isn't such a bad place to be. Repetition and more repetition is whatcha need now :-)

I would mention we who have been dancing a while do NOT look down on beginners. I remember when I started how I felt. The truth is we love to see them "out there" doing it. We are also glad to help if asked. We love dancing with other partners who have been dancing a while but have no problem dancing with beginners at their level. I just wish there was a way to help them understand they are very much welcome to add more numbers to the dance community. MCDGA!

Those are awesome points and we totally agree. We actually enjoy dancing with newer dancers as much as experienced ones. Just as much fun, just a different challenge.

One mistake I made which always killed my confidence was judging my performance by the look on my follower’s face. If she looked confused or not smiling I thought I was doing really bad and would lose confidence very quickly leading to a downward spiral. It took a while for me to realize she (usually) was simply concentrating on her part and not judging me. Realizing that made a huge difference for me.

Now just who is the one silly person who gave this a thumbs down? You know the 1-10 attractive meter? If you got to a club/bar you automatically get something like a +2 if you're a guy that knows what he's doing on the dance floor. Women like guys that are secure enough to dance +1, even more if they can dance well, another +1. I assume this person failed when trying to learn. lol.

I think a big mistake is not getting some proper instruction right from the get go. Learning at a bar is not always the best place. Some bars/clubs actually use great instructors and you are lucky if you have access to these but others places use folks, who may know how to dance but not neccessarily know how to instruct. Bad habits are hard to break once they are set in. If your instructor is using terms like "push" and "pull" you need to go look elsewhere.
