In country dancing, there are 5 thing you MUST know if you plan to go country dancing.
Regardless of whether you are dancing Country Two Step, West Coast Swing, Waltz, or Country Swing, these 5 country dance tips will help take your country dancing to the next level.
In this video, Anthony and Rose Lewis of Country Dance X teach 5 crucial country dance tips to make your country dancing better.

5) DANCE WITH YOUR PARTNER - It may be strange for ladies to hear, but when country dancing, you won't dance to music. You dance to stay in sync with your dance partner.
4) STAY IN YOUR LANE - What we're talking about here is, when country dancing, each partner should know their roles. In country dancing, being a leader or being a follower is different and have different responsibilities to make your country dancing the best it can be.
3) GUYS, YOU DON'T MEAN SH*T - Ha! Your job is simply to make HER look good! We promise that if you focus on making her feel good about how she is country dancing with you, she'll want to do it again.
2) LADIES, SAY YES! - In country dancing, we call this being a follower. That means that you will both enjoy country dancing much more if one person leads and the other follows.
1) HAVE FUN! - Country dancing should always be fun! It's all about having fun with another person, listening to the music, and hanging out with friends. It's just not that serious! On the other hand, country dancing is a lot more fun when you and your partner are in sync and know how to dance together.

I came across you two by searching for advanced 2-step. I've been doing 2-step since 1999 and love learning new technique and patterns. You have 2 videos here that I'm can't wait to start working on. The first time I saw the pretzel was at College PE Dancing, Beginning, Intermediate & Advance 1962. A instructor from Author Murray Dance Studio came and he taught the TEACHERS of Arthur Murray how to dance demonstrated it and when he did it was so unique. He was kind of short and little on the heavy side and when he dance you thought he was floating and so smooth. Your videos are so neat and WELL DEMONSTRATED THAT i HAVE BEEN REVIEWING EVERY ONE THAT I FIND YOU DEMONSTRATED WITH YOU LOVELY PARTNER. The first class of dancing that I enrolled in was in Odessa, Tx in the 9th grade.(1958). My wife and I love country dancing, western cha cha, waltzing and rhumba. Keep up the great videos.

That's so cool! The pretzel has a lot of different names depending on the geographic region and/or the studio syllabus where it is taught. We commonly refer to it as the "hammerlock", but the pretzel is a more recognizable name for newer dancers.

The 5 tips are not just for Country Dancing, they are the same tips across the board for all partner dances, including ballroom and Latin. Unfortunately, way too many people in social dancing either do not know these 5 tips or they don't care, resulting in unpleasant to bad dance experiences. While they think they are having fun, in their own mind, they just messed it up for their dance partner, which leads me to say, I never dance twice with a bad experience.

Truth. Anthony is also a Gold Certified instructor in American Rhythm and Smooth. Good dancing is good dancing... the laws of physics don’t change just because of the genre of music playing lol. The character and rhythm may change, but the basics are essentially the same.

That is so weird ... since there will be thousands of us doing it tonight across the dozens of country dancehalls just in the city where we are. (In the middle of a pandemic no less)
