I didn’t know how hard it was until I tried to play it and ended up here 😂. Thank you for the video, it’s really helpful!!

Wow brother.. I was running my pinky on the 6th string 8th fret, and my index across the 3rd and 4th string 5th fret. You're right, he does play it down there. Much better tone down on the 3. Eye opener for me. Thanks.

This takes a bit of practice but I keep everything down at the third fret. I drone the lower C note with my thumb, play the start pretty much the same as you but, I don’t slide up. Holding the low C note I have my pinky on the 2nd string 5th fret, ring finger 3rd string 5th fret, slide the pinky quickly to the 6th fret. Lift it quick then gut the 2nd atring 4th fret, 3rd string 5th fret, hammer on with pinky into the 5th fret 2nd string. Something you were doing, just all down at the third fret area.

I think you are doing it correct down at C. I'm gonna do this every time I pick up a guitar now. Brent is fuckin awsome.

Barring the 3rd fret over the A string and G string you keep the bass thumping on the C and keep a drone or common note of the Bb under the moving upper B string part of the pinky on fret 6, middle finger on fret 4, and ring finger on fret 5. What is heard as a slide up is actually a quick simple singe fret chromatic pickup note that the index finger does sliding from fret 2 back into the C on fret 3. The three note chords then end up as C7sus4, Cm7, C7. Then it returns right into the 5-6-5-8 boogie thing. Some confusion is thinking that the second part is starting with an F chord over the C bass by barring parallel 4ths, but it is actually a parallel 5th keeping that dominant 7th of Bb to the C through the entire second phrase movement. That makes the whole thing simple and economical in hand movement. It also keeps the entire part on the 3rd fret where the strings have the correct life and pop to them.

The third option overlooked is to play the C chord boogie in the open G cowboy chord hand pattern of ala Keith Richards, barring the 5th fret (index finger) D and G strings and playing the bass note on the E string 8th fret (pinky). Add the 5-6-5-8 right there. Then slide up to bar the 8th fret E and D strings and play the moving single line on the G string using the double stop plucking. The beauty of this is that the bass note thumb thumping stays on the E string and all the double stop pulls remain on the D and G strings. The slide you hear is Brent changing those positions. Using a set of fresh strings and potentially lighter gauges, using this position would sound right.

Thats pretty bad ass. I'd probably capo it if I didn't have to get below C or G.

Is that guitar you are using one of Fenders "nashville" tele's?
@CountryGuitarChops10 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow response Trevor, for some reason I just found this post in my inbox. No, that is not a "Nashville" Tele. The Nashville models have a B-bender installed in them, in addition to the middle pickup. I've added the middle PU in just about all my Tele's. Thanks!
