Welcome and you join Aslan & I as we leave the cosy moorings - a stone's throw from the Wedgwood factory - and continue southwards along the Trent & Mersey Canal towards Meaford and Stone.
The sun is warm and shining, the scenery rural and pleasant - a stark and refreshing contrast to the recent concrete-vista of Stoke On Trent.
During the day, we drop down through several locks and along the way, I mention a selection of recent and somewhat 'confusing' questions I've received on KZfaq recently.
Eventually we arrive at the bustling yet charming town of Stone, where I settle for the next 5 days.

Greetings from Florida. It's so delightful to see the hamlets and villages along the canals and equally nice when you visit and film them. I can imagine myself conversing with the locals, enjoying a drink together. We're all in this life and time together and not so different, are we. Simply marvelous videos. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

My parents boat was moored at Stone, Staffs for a while. You passed Lygean which is a boat I have photographed in the past. Last time i saw it was on the Grand Union near Stoke Bruerne. Lygean is the Roman for Lea and was the name of the Venture Scout unit I used to go to in Herts (where the River Lea runs through). Great video Kevin.

I love watching Aslan and you as you travel around Britain. It brings me a sense of happiness and peace of mind. Hi Karen, I beg to differ. Though you have no canals, Kansas is quite beautiful in my opinion. I am from North Carolina and the long stretches of flat open country is quite appealing to me. I think maybe because it is different from what I see every day. Have a great weekend!
@KansasHobbit
@KansasHobbit 2 жыл бұрын
@@martyb3783 I live in southeast Kansas and we have rolling hills and trees and scenery with lots of cattle grazing on the Flint Hills. I think it is beautiful as well. But Britain's ancient castles and quaint houses are truly something different. I love the English canals and peeking into people's back yards. Western Kansas has the miles and miles of flat open country and has the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

Ahoy from San Diego (not unlike your Triumph T-shirt in this video) and like your shirt …and you, a fellow biker and boater. I know you’re a HD rider, and they are beautiful machines -but in my case I am a classic Indian rider. Quite liked this video-like all of them -but this one in particular for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on. Seemed like you were having fun this production; in command of life, top of your boating-game, a smashing job of the video production and yet taking it all in your stride. Confident -is probably a good word for it. Thank you again for humor, your effort, and your care in post production. It is appreciated and enjoyed.

The internal combustion engine is under relentless attack by the green new deal tribe! So, we will in due course proceed and ultimately arrive at a new source of propulsion, but it will indeed take time. In the meantime many of us will be scorned and ridiculed in the process. Life has it challenges: I live 22 minutes from the airport (on a good ,but rare day) but typically when I leave my neighborhood and join the cluster of vehicles on the interstate heading to Boston it can take well over a hour to reach my destination 🚘 idling on the freeway, now isn't that progress! So, a few locks aren't so bad and you get some exercise! Have a lovely day....cheers!!

Good evening, as you can see, now Ive descovered your channel, Im watching all kinds of your videos. These are some of the best Ive seen on narrowboats, well done. I have and usually live on a 57' narrowboat on a permanent mooring on the K&A. I have to say, Im not normally a traditionalist when it comes to boats, my own being a 1993 Johnathan Wilson Josha trad hull, but I really like the look of Aslan. The only things Im not convinced on are the portholes for light in the boat and the long front deck which could make extra living space if the top were to cover it. I do love the engine, my own is a 42Hp Perkins 4 cylinder MC42. Keep making the fabulous content. Cheers, Peter.

Its a pity you didn't film the turn over bridge, but imagine trying to build one. It always got me how the brickwork took on a spiral and seeing that bricks weren't always just laid flat. Amazing architecture along the cut.
