@@earthling2007 I'm in NY, went through 3 companies so far, I have to have a soil test done with the dept of health present and they have to sign off stating that the soil is suitable. It's a major pain in the ass. I'm still waiting for them to come through. Turns out I only had one run (essentially one leech pipe) and one distribution box. I've been in this home for 8yrs, didn't know that was the case until it started failing. So far quotes for a 175ft -225ft run of leech fields has ranged from $9g to $14g. I'll keep you posted, may even upload a video.

Great Video!!! I am not a "Septic Tank" and or "Lateral Line" installer by profession. However I have lived in the country, on a farm, all of my life. I am *not an expert* but, the Absorption System I have here, was installed in 1965. It is now in bad shape, and needs to be redone. But I will say this, no one will believe it probably, but I will say it anyway. "A Septic System, *IF* it is installed "correctly" and is located with the "advantages" it needs, like being only slightly sloping, and a soil that "percs" and the system is not "abused" is the most trouble free thing you will ever own. This one here or our property, I helped install as a kid, I am 72 NOW. Let me tell you, we almost forgot we even had it. Except, early on, the old Concrete Tiles were used to make Lateral Lines. They did not last, they never did. They were replaced in the early, very early 1970's with PVC lines. After that, it was trouble free for decades. Finally replaced the Terra Cotta Tiles that the Burlap "seals" that fed the tanks some years back. Replaced that with PVC, which is MUCH Superior. This may sound unbelievable to some people, but it is true. We were lucky to just be at the right Place with the soil and lay out etc. This is a great video, to me you nailed it ( in my opinion anyway ), on the "VARIBLES" and the Charges you may face. Until NOW, we almost forgot we had it, almost NEVER PUMPED IT and so on. But, the VARIABLES this man pointed out is the "problem" or "savior" depending on what you have. In my area (Texas) the type of soil and SIZE or the "lot" makes a huge difference. In the area where I live, very close to our location the SOIL CHANGES ABRUPTLY. We are on what is left of our Farm. So, we could make the "Lateral Lines" or "Drain Field" as big as we needed to make it work. If you are on a smaller lot in today's world, the Regulatory Entity and THEIR Regulations on "Perc-ing" is what will kill you. Also how many people USING THE SYSTEM. They just might MAKE the Aerobic MANDATORY. I am also a Real Estate Broker, inactive at the moment, but this is something you need to check out BEFFORE YOU BUY YOUR Lot or Home etc. But where I live, the SIZE of the drain field, is the deciding factor on the Drain Field. If the soil absorbs the Affluent too quickly, you can EXPAND the Drain Field. This is important to know, as it MIGHT (but not always) save you from installing a Damned Aerobic System. I hate those things, they are a FOREVER COST just like the man said. If you THOROUGHLY check this out, you might save THOUSANDS of Bucks'.

If you do black and grey water separation, use anaerobic digester on the settled black water solids, digestate and grey water settled and into a leach field. Also planting shallow root high water plants next to the leach pipe is good at controlling water, in third world counties they use banana trees.

Some foam has more than a 60 psi rating and is used for structural work. In some applications, they actually put slab, footing, and build an entire house on top of structural foam. They even build highways on top of layers of structural foam because it has higher compression strength than gravel and soil. So those peanuts, if the septic tank is well maintained may actually last longer than gravel also because they have a smooth surface and are less prone to aggregate dirt and sand.

I have a baco and other equipment. I'ma farmer. Do you remember how much the d box 90s and maybe two 20ft sections of peanut pipes was. I'm in East NC. I own 26 more open aces behind my house. Only when I wash clothes the field overflows

It was about $1100 for all the materials years ago. 150ft of the peanut pipes, the d box, some elbows, and fabric cover. I live in Texas though. Not sure how different prices would be in NC.

Aerobic Systems: 1.) The pumps are constantly going out.💲💲💲 2.) the State of Texas will allow the homeowner to jump through some hoops and monitor the system yourself. ✔️ 3.) Most places are going to require a formal percolation test and a leach field plan submitted to the AHJ to be approved and inspected so you dont contaminate the watershed. The perc test alone is not cheap. Maybe you can get away with this in your county in TX, but many throughout the rest of the country cannot. I'm not sure how realistic this video is. Annnd OP hides any replies from here on out. I see how you roll.

@@CountryLivingExperience I'm in the industry and was curious what people publicly post. Eric, did you receive a formal waiver from Smith County to do what you did? I'd be surprised if you met the 10 acre exemption threshold. Compost toilets are better cheaper and cleaner. I'm so sick of $ gouging City crap especially when property is in the Country and the land has already been sh*tted up back when settlers were living on the same lands. Plus the leach lines kill trees, vegetation and you lose all of your land to use for growing food. It doesn't make sense .
